This is no different to some Tom fans posting ludicrous conspiracy theories because they feared it was their favourite at risk.

If the scoring had been different and, say, it was Rachel and Tom tied at the top of the judges' leaderboard with Lisa at the bottom with one point, we would have the same outcome. So enough of the bitterness!

If anyone is to blame, it is the judges and, complicitly, the producers. The judges' scoring this series has displayed bias so many times and last night was the final straw. And what exactly was all that hasty shuffling of papers just before Rachel's AS votes were announced? Hastily comparing scores and adding up, perhaps?

There has been something seriously wrong with this series - notably the judges' arrogance about the public vote. This needs remedying - and fast.

I would have been equally outraged if it was Rachel and Tom tied with 3 points apiece and Lisa with 1. I don't like Lisa, but I like to see fair play and transparency from the BBC.

i was out last night and have just watched it all on iPlayer, I was incensed for Tom because he was let down by both the choice of dancing (why not AS? I wondered if Camilla took gamble of saving for the final) and the strange marking meant he couldn't be saved at all.

I think the decision is the only fair one and was really pleased for them all that they got through to the final.

I don't mind who wins out of Tom or Rachel - and will be abroad next week so I can't vote anyway. Lisa winning would be odd, but if she in the final she deserves the opportunity.

I think this is the point some lisa and rachael fans are missing, yes Tom deserved to bottom of leader board. even though hes my favourite, i think he had a bad choice of dance, but did he deserve to be in the dance off! no, because thats the whole point of the viewers votes to save your fav from the dance off. with no chance of that happening even if Tom came top with the public, it made a farce out the whole thing. if it had been the other way around i would be glad that lisa or Racheal had been given a another chance. because of the unfairness of it all, even though i dont rate them.

the marking was quite strange - Rachel was undermarked for her second dance, and I am not too sure what the judges were trying to achieve.

I think the only fair solution is for the judges to go, and the dancers to all reach the final - so I am half happy.

Can a just say that I think this is a really nice, fair and logical post. And I agree 100%, if either of the girls had been in the same position, it should have been the same outcome. It's not magic or a fix, it's simple statistic and mathematical skills.

Not really strange marking - very fair for the quality of the dances at this stage in the series for all of the couples involved as I saw it (and accepting that no dance from the celebs is likely to be 100%, so a 10 here does not imply perfection).

The BBC had no choice but to do something about it. Tess and Bruce asked the viewing public at the end of the first show to save their favourites from being in the dance off and expected people to vote....and pay to do so. Tom mathematically couldn't be saved from the dance off and if the beeb had accepted money from the phone votes for Tom and therefore let the show run as normal there would have been a bigger uproar and the bbc would have been in 10 times as much trouble.

The only other option which is something someone has mentioned in the thread was to ask the judges to rank Rachel and Lisa which seems a less fair option. That could have meant that R or L could have ended up in the dance off where as because they topped the leaderboard in the first place most probably wouldn't have ended up there.

Yes Toms jive wasn#t great but if Tom needs to step down then I think it only fair len does too for giving a 10 to a dance he pointed out errors in!!!!!

I don't even support Tom and I have seen nothing but bile with no foundation in any of the threads that suggest he should step down etc. If anyone needs to take of the blinkers...well most of us know who it is and it isn't those that support the thoroughly sensible and appropriate action the BBC took last night.

I can understand people being annoyed, but it is not Tom's fault. The show is to blame for not considering the possibility of this event, and putting in a contingency plan.

The voting public should always hve a say in the result, and the lader board failed to give them that opportunity. Baring in mind that several people on DS had considered this possibility, the only people who should bear the brunt of any complaint is the show producers.

I say all this and I am not even a fan of Tom's. I just believe in fair play

Console yourself with the poll Lissa. I am not totally impartial - lost my faves long ago - as I think the girls are better dancers than Tom but I was one of the majority who voted that last night's decision was the right one.

I also suspect that the "threads of bitterness" are as likely to be from people who supported Austin and John as they are to be Lisa and Rachel fans. And while I cannot agree with them necessarily, I do have empathy.

JS fans werent allowed to have a default public winner and yet Tom's fans are. (If Tom wins ofcourse, not a done deal yet). Austin went out on one bad night and yet Tom has been saved from the same fate. It's natural to feel a bit cheated and disgruntled, I would say.

However, none of this is anyone's fault. It is just one in a series of mishaps that has made this year's SCD a bit of a farce. I hope all 3 remaining dancers (and their pros) have a great time next week. I am looking forward to the Final dances, even if I cant get worked up about the Final result

I hope all this wrangling doesn't affect Tom's performance next week. All three deserve to be in the final!

If Tom had got the publics top vote and could not win then it was an impossible situation. I think the judges vote should be done away with, let them just give comments and leave the rest to the public......save this seasons stupidity and reduce the experts combined overblown power and ego.

Tom is a nice guy who has been consistently good, and entertaining, all the way through the series. He took a risk with that jive (Waterloo?!) last night and it didn't work. Honestly have to say that Camilla's choreography was more miss than hit too.

But, for all his apparent imperfections, his dancing makes me sit up and watch, unlike Rachel, in whom I see no emotion, and Lisa, who's a nice girl but doesn't quite hit the spot either. I want a dance that gives me a smile on my face from the competitor's enthusiasm and neither of the ladies leave me feeling that way. I'd much rather see a few fluffed steps than someone with their future career prospects on their mind.

Too right thats their problem! Its a tad chidlish if you ask me. Its not Tom's fault the public don't like Lisa or Rachel.

A final between those two would have been like watching paint dry. Tom puts so much more enthusiasm into his dances- he genuinly loves it. Its not a blatant attemtp to kick start a non existent career like the Rachbot.

It was lovely to see his and Camilla's faces last night.
