I've just been reminded of some absolute rubbish US kids' horror film I saw in the 80s called "The Gate". A bunch of kids opened the entrance to hell by listening to heavy metal records. Or something. It was absolutely one of the worst films I've ever seen.

Though i'm hopeing it's just a TARDIS light episode so Ten can return in the second 2009 special proudly showing off his newly spruced up TARDIS .

Perhaps Ms Hartigan is the Rani, of course last time someone stole the tardis, his consort was wearing red....

I'm starting to think that the gate might have something to do with the Doctor increasing his number of regenerations. RTD has joked about the "crystal ball of zog" appearing when the end of the 13th life approaches for the Doctor and a future production team. What if he can't resist , as it's his last few stories as producer , coming up with a reason for the Doctor to get past the 13 incarnations limit. It could then involve 10 losing his life in a poignant last story for DT.

I still think RTD actually said 'The Gator' rather than 'the Gate'. It would lead to another realm of speculation altogether.

If it's a misquote, then we should consider that he might have meant grate, as in 'hit by a routemaster bus while trying to fish TARDIS key out of'.

Remember in the stolen earth when Davros & the Doctor are talking & the Doctor mentions about the timewar being time locked & then in jouneys end when Gwen & that other guy from Torchwood talked about that time lock security thing which had the dalek trapped inside it. Then towards the end of jounreys end when the doctor blows up all the daleks n the dalek at torchwood blows up n gwen says ''there goes the timelock''. Does anyone reckon that could have been a little hint. Its the kind of thing i reckon RTD would put in there. Its not the most obvious of clues, but it showed what a timelock was. and with Davros n the daleks messin time n space up, maybe they sumhow unlock the timewar by mistake. Well sumthin along those lines anyway.

If there's a song in the Christmas Special (there has been each year) then it might be worthwhile listening to the lyrics as the past three have all had pointers to a greater or lesser degree to what was going to happen at the end of the following series.

Song for 10 (The Christmas Invasion) - Hints at Rose being "on the other side" -"I woke up today and you're on the other side, our time may never come again"

Love Don't Roam (The Runaway Bride) - Hints at Martha's travels at the end of series 3 "I have wandered I have rambled I have crossed this crowded sphere and I've seen a mess of problems that I long to disappear"

The Stowaway (Voyage of the Damned) - "Once I found a stowaway upon my ship on Christmas Day" (Donna perhaps?) Numerous references to Rose "Lying with his love that's where he'll be" and the line "I wonder how his Journey Ends.

I've just had a popular theory disproved .

From series three I read somewhere that the name Toclafane was actually French for "fool the fan" and true, if you use Yahoo's translation service you get "fake the fan" (translating from toc la fane).

HOWEVER!!! I've just checked with a fluent French speaker (and actual French person) who tells me it means nothing at all!

With this in mind, I'm not even going to try and work out what "The Gate" possibly could stand for
