Whover Gets The Most Public Votes In Final Deserves To Win
ArtyAttack

It is a simple concept really and has worked well in other shows like X Factor so whoever the public decide on next week will ultimately be the person they like the best. All the arguing in the world wont change that fact.

Yup.

The way it always has been. Doesn't matter what the judges, producers or anyone does next week, whoever the public vote for most will win.

Seems perfectly fair to me and hardly tragic since we have three good dancers in the final.

I agree and next year it should revert to the public vote for the entire thing. The judges wont like it but tough on them, they're ruining the show. The bottom two from the public vote should do the dance off and let the judges save one of them, just so they feel like they've something to do.

For me the most entertaining couple deserves to win...as it's an entertainment show and all.

All the arguing in the world won't change THAT fact.

Totally Agreed.

I only hope that they won't change the rule again next week to let the judges decide who go first in the final. With BBC you never know what you'll get.

I agree. I dont vote for the best technical dancer. I vote for the person I like best entertainmentwise. I dont need the judges telling me I made the wrong decision.

Absolutely agree. All dance is about the enjoyment you feel when you watch it and a huge part of that is the charisma of the dancers.....technical perfection will not always result in the most enjoyable dance

That's right. Those technical perfection dances are normally showed at 11:30pm or onward because general public can't find themselves related to it. The success of SCD is not because of the technically perfect dancers but the value of entertainment. Otherwise it'd be called 'Come Dancing'.

This is why JS should not have gone! He was the true winner of SCD and would have beaten all dancers!

Yeah, I would have a lot more sympathy for the OP's point of view if it had been applied when John and not Tom was the public favourite.

I get your point. JS was entertaining but he was a hopeless dancer and, in my opinion, would not have been in the final. If the technically-perfect-but-boring pair is one end of the spectrum then the massively-entertaining-but-hopeless pair is the other. The winner should be someone in the middle.

Well which is it then...the most entertaining couple or the couple that gets the most votes? And don't try and pretend they're necessarily the same.

Technical ability impacts on entertainment value to the extent that I can assess it...but ultimately I don't care what the judges tell me or who the 'public' vote for.

Exactly! But the double standards makes you laugh! Awhile ago when JS was getting through it was a dance contest and the public and ruining it. Now the public are right?

So JS should win the series then?

Alternatively the best dancer should win, IMO Lisa!

The compromise candidate who has a little bit of both? Or is that unsatisfactory to everyone instead of just one camp or t'other?!

But let the public decide who is the best dancer/personality - you think Lisa others prefer Tom or Rachel.

People forget its not all about technical dancing ability - its about connecting with the viewer and offering something a bit different.

Madonna for example has done rather well despite being an average singer. Perhaps the viewers just prefer Tom's package more!

Catch yourself on, we all know that the only person who deserves to win any reality show is the person who came second

My personal theory behind this is that the GBP love the underdog, any winner automatically stops being the underdog and therefore we all have to start routing for the runner up

As I wrote I don't really care what anyone else thinks.

The couple that entertains me is the couple that deserves to win. Period. I understand that some people are entertained by marching on the spot or dancing like a rag doll or a drunkard...but I feel no obligation to take account of that

It's the job of the scoring system to reconcile the conflicting wishes of the 10m or so viewers.

But there are those who would say that Tom deserves to win precisely because it is a dance contest and Tom can turn his hand to every dance.

For me Tom IS the best dancer (of those left).
The girls haven't won me over with their Latin at all.

Lisa just can't cut it dance-wise.
Rachel just...just...*can't express the inexpressible because a black hole exists for me...*

There are some terrible double standards on this board this year. Many of us were vilified for voting for John Sergeant in the early weeks of the competition because this is a dance contest apparantly and NOT a personality contest. I think at one point we were called rabid and morons. Now Tom fans are telling us that its NOT all about the dance apparantly but part dance and part personality. Dear Dear. The difference between me and Tom fans, I would have stopped voting for him once all the other possible non winners had gone, Tom fans continue to vote for him even though he is now the weakest dancer of the three left because he has a lovely personality and tries so hard and 'deserves' to win.

I totally agree. Tom entertains and Rachel and Lisa are just plain DULL

I agree, and I think it should be like that every week! The dance-off just doesn't make sense, especially since the judges nearly always pick the couple they gave the highest score anyway.

> So JS should win the series then?
Well, preferably not, but in principle he should have been allowed to! Anyone invited to take part in Strictly should have the chance to win if the audience likes them for whatever reason, and the judges shouldn't complain about it. Some people just appeal to the audience more than others, even if they aren't perfect dancers. That's how the show works.

But people still aren't quite getting the message...
