Show Dance

Did anyone else find the show dance last night more like a display of acrobatics? I was totally unmoved by it whilst acknowledging the athleticism involved. It seemed to me more appropriate to a gymnastics display than Strictly.

Watched it just now and said the same to hubby.

Was VERY impressed when she lifted him though.

I didn't feel it was really a show DANCE as such, there was barely any dancing, it was more a lot of impressive looking lifts, which does not constitute a show dance for me. The 2 show dances we got last year from Alesha and Matt and Matt and Flavia were what all SCD show dances should be like.

Remember, its not a COMPETITIVE show dance, as next weeks will be for the celebs - its a pure exhibition crown-pleaser.

I agree with the tone of the above , BTW - it IS very "Cirque du Soleil".

I thought Cirque du Soleil as well as I was watching it .... wasn't impressed at all ....... thought it would be more like the free-dance on DWTS

Yep, cirque du soleil. Very well executed and very impressive but not a "real dance" IMO

I didn't like it either, for the same reason.

I agree, couldn't see any dancing in it, it was just acrobatics more suited to a circus.

I didn't think it was dancing at all, I've seen more artistic gymnastics than that. It was a weightlifting and contortion display.

They show the show dancers every year, this is what show dance is.

I was expecting the aeriel dance and acrobatics, and that's what we got - I was still incredibly impressed.

We all said Cirque du Soleil too. I found it entertaining but not in the context of a dance show...in the words of that moron Len, 'all that fannying about and no dance content!'
