I thanked my lucky stars I have an iPhone.

As it is always synced via MobileMe (if you have it) or via your iTunes.. then whatever you do you always can go back to your last sync'd state.

I had my iPhone in my jeans back pocket last week and accidentally sat down on it.. Oops I cracked the glass!
A thin hairline crack right across the top of the screen. It still worked perfectly. I had no insurance etc so I decided to live with it.
I was walking past the Apple Store on Sunday and I said to the missus "i'll just pop in & see how much a repair would cost".. Anyway the chap I spoke to suggested he could swap it out for a new one 'under warranty' Fantastic!!! They did it there & then.. He wiped (formatted) my old iPhone and when I got home I just plugged the new one into my Mac and woosh.. it had re-cloned the new one with a backup of the old one INSTANTLY.. including all the sms messages I had saved on the old one..

Try and do that with a Viewty. In fact try and do that with any other phone if you're a MacUser.

that was lucky, rotara. has you upgraded to 10.5.6 which now pushes your calendars etc to the cloud rather than every 15 mins?

Why would you want to do that anyway? USB 2.0 is much quicker than Bluetooth anyway and it is a lot quicker and easier using iTunes to sync your photos.

Sorry , didn't sound like you were seriously considering an Iphone

Then transfer the stuff from the other phone using USB. Bluetooth is best for pairing devices like a headset, in car systems, pairing wireless mice and keyboards, not for transferring large volumes of data.

Perhaps, you should hang around for the iPhone Nano which is due soon.

The iPhone Nano had first been rumoured back in August. It was anticipated to hit stores in time for christmas, but didn't. I wouldn't hold your breath over that one.

Can anyone tell me where iphones are actually made?

An IPhone accessory supplier let slip that the Nano is about to be announced, when they included a picture in a brochure of their phone cases. My guess would be announced at Macworld.

Probably China where most things are made these days. Seem to remember the manufacturer being Foxconn.

edit: correction Taiwan http://www.foxconn.com/ContactUs.html

Good Stuff:
- Touch interface
- Safari Browser
- Hot swap sim
- Can be hacked easily

There are some more which I can't remember right now.”

That feature has been added in firmware 2.2 update.

Wouldn't a nano defeat the object....Surfing the web on a smaller screen would be a nightmare. Would it not????

You were right first time, China.

Depending on your political standpoint Taiwan is technically a part of the PRC (People's Republic of China).

Perhaps not if you like the smallness of the Nano and still wished it included a phone.

The Nano is Apple's most popular iPod so I would imagine the Nano iPhone would be an instant hit (especially with the ladies).
I know so many women who wished the iPhone was a bit smaller.

It would probably not be marketed as an internet device as such, unless the whole unit becomes a screen.
