Does the iPod Touch do everything the iPhone does..?

...apart from let you make calls?

I've never had an iPod - how embarrassing! But literally apart from not being able to call or connect to 3G services, can the 'touch' do everything else?

Cheers all!

I have the ipod touch, and am happy with it, as far as I know it is much the same as the iPhone, only cheaper and doesn't have a phone or camera or 3G. But if you are in a city chances are you can connect to some sort of wifi access point.

If you're thinkin of getting the touch, go for it they are deadly

Thanks for that.

If you connect to wireless internet can you play other people on games who are playing on their iPhones? Is there even such a thing (in otherwords a bit like you play other people on xbox live or PS3 netplay etc)?

Didn't realise it didn't have a camara - that's not an issue though; luckilly!

Yes the 3g iphone has A-GPS (Assisted GPS), as does the 2d gen ipod touch.

The 2nd gen touch does not have AGPS or GPS of any kind. It has a Broadcom Bluetooth chip which isn't fully functional at the moment, but is supposedly used for the Nike+ app.

Just an update with regards to Bluetooth on the 2nd Gen iPod touch; it's being enabled with the iPhone OS 3.0 release this summer, although this will probably enable P2P only, with no true file transferring.

and 3.0 will also bring online gaming from what I have read

there is a run down of the 3.0 preview here: http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/17/l...preview-event/

What made you think that?

good point I've never seen any specs say 2g ipod has gps

this is all the 2g has:

Quote:
“Wireless:
Wi-Fi (802.11b/g)
Nike + iPod support built in
Maps location-based service”

location based service uses wifi to triangulate a location no gps involed in the hardware to assist
