Hardly seems worth pre-recording it really - wasn't last year's one recorded much earlier?

It was recorded before the final last year, don't remember the preceding years'.

For the last two years the final has been on 23rd and 22nd December so there wasn't time to record the special between the Final and Christmas. This year there is time to do it.

Previously it's been recorded on the Monday after the Quarter Final.

It's better for this year's contestants if it's done after the final, as it means they don't have to take time out from training to rehearse the xmas special.

Although I know when they did it in series three the finalists were all preparing their xmas routines alongside their preparations for the final, so it did still take time away.

Apart from having to dance for more weeks because there were more of them, series 5 contestants had a lot more work to do. As well as their single sex group dances they did 3 group dances all together, this year only 1. Also last year they recorded the xmas special on the Monday before the semi final.

Hardly.

This year they did 2 single sex group dances each, 1 group dance with all 16 couples and the disco group dance. So infact, they have done the same number of group dances this year as last year - not a lot more work at all.

Eek hopefully I can avoid the spoiler if its only a three day gap - I wanted to last year but I read it in the end

And last year it was filmed when Letitia was still in, I remeber that much.

You don't need a spoiler. If she does a latin dance Jill will win and prove the theory of mark inflation in subsequent series.
