Ipod Touch Help
Pidge
20-12-2008
Got my daughter a 16gb 1st Gen Touch for christmas.

Over the last 3 months I have been filling it with her albums ripped from her cd's and a couple of films ,High School musical 1 & 2 etc etc from her DVD's.

I have been doing this on my Desktop PC.

I have never registered the Ipod, always said "register later"

However will it not be usable on her laptop on christmas day without having to erase and resync to her laptop?

Or will it be fine to use when we d/l iTunes on her laptop as it aint been registered!

I would hate to have filled it for her with her fave music to have to delete and start it again as it had to be re-regd to a different computer?!

Pidge it'll be fine BUT make sure to turn off Auto sync. I think it actually says manually sync music files before plugging the ipod in.

The music wont be on her laptops itunes libarary and so if it auto syncs will remove them from her ipod.

ps. We registered wife's on her laptop and itunes but now use the itunes and library on my computer.

My main reason was that I found itunes didnt seem to like Vista (at least my wife's version) and works flawlessly with my PC (XP)

its on itunes.

Actually, I think you need the ipod plugged in to access it. Sure its on the front page when the ipod is connected.

When your daughter 1st connects her ipod to a new itunes she will need to cancel the sync via her ipod and then access that page to turn it off.

it's going to be a lot easier if her music library is actually on her own pc.

have you kept all the things your ripped on your pc? if so, move them over to your daughter's itunes library at some point after christmas.

Is this with using a 1st or 2nd gen ipod touch?
I'm asking because my OH can only use his 1st gen on my laptop which is Vista, and my Ipod nano uses this also. I have just ordered a 2nd gen Ipod touch and wondered now if I'll be able to use it on my laptop.

Thanks!
