Why reset the votes to zero - another money making scam?
MARTYM8

On every other show I am aware off all votes on the final are automatically carried forward when one candidate is eliminated.

Why reset them to zero - thuis discounting whay may already have been millions of votes cast (and possibly more than may be cast in the last half an hour)?

I think it's actually a good idea, only way to ensure the final is seen to be a clean fight.

Head....desk.

The BBC do not make any money from phone votes. It is against their Charter.

maybe because they would otherwise have a final that reflected what happened a week before the final and people would complain. They didn't count the marks and votes last week so they had to this week but they didn't want it to shape the last result.

Because people (rightly) complained that they didn't want their votes from last week being carried through to decide the eventual winner.

CIN haven't gotten any money from SCD since the 2nd series began. They only ever gave proceeds for one series I believe.

I think the votes should have been reset to zero at the start of the evening, not half-way through. As the BBC were forced into refunding the cost of last week's calls, it would have been the fair thing to do. This final didn't start with a level playing field.

its an dodgy situation aint it because the votes just from tonight would not have been starting from an even footing cause tom was bottom so people may vote jus cause he was bottom

its so rachell has a better chance of winning maybe lol

Well When I heard them say that I knew Tom would win.
Love the guy to bits but he is not the best dancer this season.

tom would have been in the lead purely on phone votes cause he was bottom last week and tonight so its good they reset the votes

Perhaps because they wanted to make a clear distinction between the semi-final -- which, due to last week's cock-up, effectively didn't get resolved until approximately 9pm tonight -- and the actual final.

Given the circumstances, it seems like a sensible choice to me.

It actually gives Rachel a better chance here because she was obviously behind Tom in the votes for the 3rd place standoff.

Here they have given her the best chance to catch up and win or Tom to win.

I think it is the fairest and more exciting option!

Did it not say that "x" amount of the call goes to Children in Need at the message at the bottom of the screen for every show until Children in Need night - then it dissapeared? Might be my imagination though
