I wish! I'd book myself on there with him ... what a laugh, he'd be ... sadly, as far as I'm aware he gives talks on weightier subjects.

Well done Brucie, the bumptious nobody needed taking down a peg or two.”

I did as you suggested and watched it again ... my interpretation is that he was trying to have a laugh, but Brucie got stressed - can't have someone else telling the jokes, can we?

The cameras were largely on the finalists anyway ... lots of gushing and air kissing; JS was simply in the background cheering the winners.

I don't think, having watched it, that John was being pushy he was trying to make sure that Kristina was by his side when the trophy was being given to Tom. It just happened that as he had only just congratulated Tom he happened to be at the front of the group.

IMO Bruce's comments did not appear to me to be jokey but rather the words of someone who was stressed (he has been ill, hasn't he?) and knew he was working to a tight timeline. I think they were out of order but were probably not meant as nastily as they sounded.”

My interpretation too ... John was being gentlemanly; Tom had been hugging and joking with him shortly before the non-event ... at least it would have been a non-event had Brucie not had a sense of humour lapse.

Most people seem to be commenting on what they saw. Not what they perceived were the intentions.
I wish people wouldn't make such dismissive remarks.

Bruce shouldn't be blamed for trying to get through the progrmme, he'd have had a director shouting in his ear that the programme was over-running, as it had all evening. Can't blame Bruce for the delays, he had a lot of tripe he was expected to read off the auto-cue all night.

Just like the BBC, they couldn't organise a social function in a brewing establishment. They would have had enough floor managers there to prevent that melee at the end. They should have planned for a possible over-run, just as they should have forseen a tie in the judges voting last week. But all they worry about is ratings.

You still not accepting the situation, so I'll say it again.

He positioned himself immediately behind the trophy. He wasn't "in the background" though Christina was and he pulled her forward to stand next to him.
If he hadn't stood there, Bruce would have had no need to speak to him. He left no room for the winners to walk across to pick up the trophy.

Exactly, we were all shouting at the TV when John pushed himslef into the limelight - it did seem that way. Everyone else had moved away - surely there had been some briefing about the awarding of the trophy. JS is a sanctimonious pratt who thinks he is far more important in everything he does than anyone else - how many noticed that even Heather was trying not be seen with him sitting on the sofa?

Couldnt agree more, john was totally trying to hog the front of stage.

Another thing i spotted was that hardly no-one there would even speak to him, he was kind of looking lost just standing there!

Hear hear!

As a news reporter/presenter he should be aware of the cameras...
Come to think of it that must be why he was there...

I think Brucie was just joking with John.
