I think when people remember Tom's win in future it'll be the showdance they'll remember, the way people remember Mark's salsa or Jill's jive.

I certainly don't think it was the best showdance ever but definitely I preferred it to the other two (particularly Brendan and Lisa's rather disturbing affair!).

I thought it was the best showdance that I'd seen by a mile.

Loved Tom tonight but haven't always been a fan! That showdance was just so uplifting!
I thought that Brendan & lisa's was OK but didn't Brendan make a mistake on the roll up?

Anyway, a fantastic 14 weeks, and the best man won!

By the end of the first show i'd gone from wanting a Rachel and Tom final to wanting a Rachel and Lisa final and didn't think Tom had it in him to deserve the title.

OMG how wrong was i ???????

That showdance was mindblowingly spectacular and i laughed and cried and cheered throughout.

An outstanding accomplishment from Tom and Camilla (who i've never really liked dancing) and even if they'd danced crap throughout the competition (which they haven't) they deserved to win with that dance alone in my eyes.

It was just superb and a total joy to watch. Definitely the best showdance ever for me!!

It was a good dance and fun, but IMO it all seemed a bit too over-acted. I felt it lacked difficult lifts that the other 2 performances did.

To be fair I think the whole dance was supposed to be an Astaire/Chaplin crossover - almost like a dancing farce (appropriate really ) - so the over acting was part of it. Like in the days of silent movies, where facial expressions said it all.

As for the lifts - lifts aren't parts of dancing. Why do you tink the rules stipulate that the American Smooth should have two (or in Brendan's rule book - three)? Because otherwise it takes away from the dance.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but tonight's showdance is up there with Jill's Jive and Mark's Salsa for me. I was sitting there grinning the whole time through. It had technique, it had fun, it was brilliant.

Best showdance out of the three for sure and possibly best dance of this series but still nothing could match the passion and drama of Alesha and Mathew's showdance from last year.

Sorry but I thought it summed up most of their performances - cheesy and contrived. It was better than anticipated, but Tom is not a champion - a champion would not have almost fallen over in a final dance.

Absolutely LOVED Tom and Camilla showdance.....it incorporated so many dance elements, was fun and entertaining...all the things a show dance should be....

I cant even remember Rachel's ! but then all her performances have bored me rigid ( sorry Vincent )....she is so ''dancing by numbers'' as someone said recently

As for Lisa's - least said the better....Brendan can do much better than that, was surprised at him

A champion is not necessarily someone who doesn't fall over in a final dance - unless i'm much mistaken (this is just what i thought it looked like) but Alesha and Matthew's final lift in their showdance went wrong, but they still won. A champion is someone who can recover from mistakes like that, and Tom did.

Unlike, say, Ian who slid on his arse in the final with him and Zoe?

Tom made an error, he recovered. Even the pros do that.

I concur with the title of this thread - "best showdance ever". Thank you so much BBC for mucking up last week and so giving the viewers chance to experience that phenomenon. It is up there with Jill's Jive and Mark's salsa.

Bit late for that isn't it?

I Wasn't keen on them really but I have to conceded that it was a super effort from Ten and Camilla.

I absolutely loved Tom and Camilla's dance, I just loved that there was humour in it as well as everything else and I thought they performed their socks off and for that dance he deserved to win (I had supported Rachel up until that dance).

Rachel's was good but I felt disappointed by the end of it, I felt similar to what Len said about her jive, it was competent and you could see how hard she had worked on it but it didn't blow my socks off. I watched with my mum who had been voting Rachel all night and, even before Tom danced, she'd said she hadn't enjoyed it that much.

All that said, I still prefer Alesha's and Zoe's but this is my favourite from a man.

I had my doubts, but after that showdance, something which is the ultimate test of talent, ability and partnership, I think Tom and Camilla deserved to win tonight as they came through and took their final performance over and above what has ever been seen on Strictly before. At the start of the show tonight they were the underdogs and the ones who would've left a slightly bitter wake if they'd won at that point. At the end they blew the whole thing apart and there really was no competition after that last dance. Tom had a aspiration to dance like Fred Astaire; Camilla wished to win the competition and they both acheived over and above what they had dreamed of. That's what Strictly's all about.”

Agreed. Best showdance ever.

Like Craig said, it happens to everyone, the mark of a champion is how you recover and continue.

A non-champion would have crumbled at that point, much like Matt Di Angelo did in his 2 quarter final dances.

The champion composed himself and carried on almost like nothing had happened.

I thought it was abit over acted & short of content.It was too ,i don't know,'cute' for me.Wasn't what i'd call a show dance,prefer more R & V's style.

Tom stumbled and was penalised by the judges but it was a mistake which lasted for a second and was brushed aside by Tom, he didn't give up on the dance and go and sit on the steps like one of the finalists did last year albeit not in the final.

You had a right not to vote for Tom for whatever reason you choose but I atually preferred his foxtrot to Lisa's even with the stumble.

Plus I suspect that if he hadn't stumbled you'd still find a reason to state that Tom wasn't a champ in your eyes. But factually your post is wrong, he is a champion, the judges and the public combined to make him one.

I didn't admit it was better, I much prefered R&V which was technically better with (not too many) but great lifts, it seemed to me like I was watching a V&F showdance, wanted to like T&C's and did think it was entertaing and different but quite messy and manic, much prefered Ian & Zoes showdance over that (Ians slip included )

As for L&B's showdance, I shall keep quiet

I don't think Tom's showdance was the best....thought Rachels was spectacular. Mark and Karen's from series 4 is still my favourite.
