Tiscali Problems
Bodatron

Ok, here are the facts:

I was with Sky for phone and broadband. I decided to cancel my Sky TV service, so had to cancel the phone and broadband too.

I signed up with Tiscali on 4th December. To date the phone line has transferred, but I can't receive any in-coming calls and if anyone leaves a message on the call minder service, I don't get them.

The Sky broadband has stopped working as of Friday, but Tiscali say they haven't had the service confirmed by BT yet.

I have tried calling the so call "customer services", but they can't help because the account isn't active yet?? The unhelpful UK sales service can't help either!!

Any useful or helpful suggestions?? - No name calling yet, I just want the service to work.

No, that's the bit I didn't understand. He said the Broadband goes to and comes from BT (I assume Wholesale) but it all sounds like they have messed up??

More important is that I get incoming calls. When people call my number it sounds like its ringing, but its not. They get call minder, can leave a message, but I don't get it.

Are you keeping the same number you had with sky ?
if you have a dialtone dial 17070 ( or if you have CLI
barred 147017070) and see if the line reports the
number you are expecting.
If you get the number you are expecting then you will be
connected to tiscali for outgoing but your incoming calls will not yet be 'ported' your new provider
Whatever the problem you need to get your service provider to sort it out and dont accept any 'its BT's' fault
excusess, you pay your money to Tiscali, not BT

Yes, I'm keeping the same number I had with Sky.

If I call out, the correct number does show.

So it sounds like Tiscali have yet to activate my line for in coming calls?

So next, the broadband - is that going to be more difficult? I had a fantastic service from Sky (the only reason for changing is that we are cancelling Sky TV), but the broadband stopped working on Friday, although it shouldn't have ceased from Sky for another 10 days.

I assume if Tiscali don't sort this out in the next few days, I have the right to cancel the service altogether, seeing as the service hasn't connected properly yet?

Ok, I'm not into writing long posts, so here are the facts:

I've spoken to Tiscali this morning who tell me that the line is not active with them and that Sky are holding it up.

I have spoken to Sky who have confirmed that they released the line to Tiscali on the 19th December.

I have therefore instructed Sky to take back my line/broadband etc. as I can't trust Tiscali to provide me with a good service considering the lack of customer service to date.

In the new year I will continue to cancel my Sky account, but transfer the line to a more customer focused provider.

The moral of the story, listen to people on these forums!!

Can people call you now? When we switched to Tiscali our cordless phones stopped working after two days. The man said they'd both broken at the same time... a likely story. But corded phones are fine.

Well - after my rant and rave.... its all working! Calls in and out, all via Tiscali.... and the broadband modem arrived today, so I'll test that tonight - lets wait and see.

As for the boradband speed, I paid for the MAX package from Sky and got speeds averaging 12Mbs - as I was paying for 16, I thought this was good!!

All I need to do now is call Sky again and tell them not to take back the line etc etc..... they are going to love me!!

Well, well, well..... the brandband is working too!! So, after a bit of presure on Tiscali, its all sorted. Although I don't think it was because of me calling them up - it probably would have happend anyway - just wish their so called customer services had the right information.....

All's well that ends well.....
