Wouldnt it be just delightful if one year we had the Alternative Xmas Special and had some the 'popular' duds back to perform, what fun. John, Kate, Kenny Gary and the like, I think that would be fab u lus.

Or maybe have a christmas special with a dud's competition for comedy value and the good ones afterwards. Sort of like X-Factor, when the bad ones come on in the final.

It's not rocket science to work out that if you're having a Strictly special of former champions that at least half of them are likely to draw level with similar scores.

The only answer now is surely to redraw the voting percentages 75% the public 25% the judges in the normal shows and chrismas specials from next year onwards.

2 + 6 = 8
1 + 5 = 6

6 + 4 = 10
6 + 3 = 9

6 + 2 = 8
6 + 1 = 7

The competition conditions said judges count for 50%, audience count for 50%. But after 4 joint-tops the audience vote would give the two bottom placers zero chance of winning, i.e. for them the contest was over after the judges vote, and the contest conditions were broken.

Mr Beazley evidently failed to go on his GCSE remedial maths course after 3-3-1. Or perhaps the crafty bugger learnt that 3-3-1 pantomime brings in more audience than straight dancing.

Were the judge trying to put there 'favourites' in a prime postion to make sure the bottom two or the worst dancers on this show could never win it

who knows but they are so stupid if they did.
No one takes them seriously anymore. If it was me i'd vote for anyone but the person they put first or second just to irrate them.

Isn't it hilarious that the original press release came from the BBC, and most of the broadcast reports of the "fiasco" are on BBC channels? We screwed up. Again. Yes, really. Cool! Let's tell everyone then!

I have a feeling that's what happened, particularly regarding the person who was placed first by the judges.

Oooh a ploy! But come on Corrie V SCD, most will choose SCD. Silly BBC but I suppose it will work.

Maybe (regarding the person in first place), actually the more I think about it.....

The question now is, will they actually show the "drama" or will there be some series editing going on ??

Oh to be a fly on the wall backstage when they had to halt recording!!!!! Wonder what Brendan & the other pros made of it all???!!!

I doubt anyone who competed cared too much as it is meant to be a bit of light hearted fun.

They would have cared when the pantomime wait turned into an hour, and their skimpy dresses made their legs cold.

Scenario 1

Jill 6 + 4 = 10
Rachel 6 + 3 = 9
Kelly 6 + 2 = 8
Lisa 6 + 1 = 7
Alesha 2 + 6 = 8
Tom 1 + 5 = 6

Alesha will always be beaten by at least 2 couples. Tom will always be bottom. They'd have to be removed from the voting as any votes cast for them will be pointless. You can't have a competition then exclude 2 people from it just because of a tie.

Scenario 2

Jill 6 + 4 = 10
Rachel 6 + 3 = 9
Kelly 6 + 2 = 8
Lisa 6 + 1 = 7
Alesha 2 + 5 = 7
Tom 1 + 6 = 7

Alesha and Tom will always be bottom, so again any votes cast for them would be pointless.

This problem should have been forseen given the judges only come armed with 2 paddles - 9 and 10 - for the xmas special. With mark inflation it is always more likely that more 10s than 9s will be given out, so a tie with more than 2 people on 40 should have been envisaged.

The best way forward would have been to rank them 6,6,6,6,5,4 and not 6,6,6,6,2,1. Or as has been suggested, the judges could have commented and not scored. After all it's just lighthearted festive fun, not the world championships!”

OMG you need to get out more...
this thread is soooo entertanining....

I cannot believe how this SCD is taking over so many lives....i just popped by anyway....might be back at weekend to read the rest..LOL

Merry Christmas

Sounds like the judges should have their paddles used for something a it more imaginative, like tanning their backsides, until they get their act together.

My guess- Jill, Alesha, Kelly and Lisa.

I don't really see what the problem is- if they all got different scores the two at the bottom would only have a negligible chance of winning even if they topped the audience vote.

And it's not even as if the audience had to pay to vote ”

Nope I think its Jill, Alesha, Rachel, Lisa! I doubt whether Kelly and Brian have had enough time to develop as a dancing couple yet. Its not a criticism of either of them. I could be wrong though.
