Sony by Pioneer ?

Have I missed something or are the Sony HXDx95 DVDR's designed or made by Pioneer?

I've had a Pioneer DVR420H for a few years and am replacing it with the Sony HXD995. The manual and basic features of the Sony are remarkably similar to the older Pioneer but with some (significant) updates.

Makes it much easier to use the new box.

The 70, 90 and 95 range of Sony DVD Recorders are all made by Pioneer.

The clue was when I discovered that the DVD drive in my Sony DVD Recorder was a Pioneer drive. When I recorded a DVD using the Sony and then put it in my PC's DVD drive and opened up Nero CD Speed; I discovered that the disc had been burned by a Pioneer drive.

Many people over at the AVforums have confirmed that the Sonys are indeed made by Pioneer. And you can find more information on each model there as well.
