OK, I've struggled with this one as you will see at the end:
1) Tom and Camilla's show dance. I was thrilled to see a ballroom-based show dance. To see one of such verve, wit and charm was just a joy.
2) Tom and Camilla's foxtrot. The first one, with all that lovely sway. Even without the stumble, their foxtrot in the final just didn't quite have the same life in it.
3) Rachel and Vincent's AT. Exquisite. The dance which changed the way I viewed this partnership.
4) Don and Lilia's tango. It has been a good year for tangos, but this one was the most emotional one for me, and thus the most memorable.
5) Austin and Erin's jive/Christine and Matthew's foxtrot. Sorry, I really can't choose between them as I love them for the same reasons - two early dances that I was expecting to be anything from dreadful to dull that ended up taking my breath away with delight. Both displayed two thoroughly engaging partnerships and demonstrated the skills of the professionals as teachers.
Honourable mentions: Again, two as I can't choose between them. Jodie and Ian's quick step (those high kicks were a joy to watch) and Christine and Matthew's jive for its sheer enthusiasm.
(NB: I have just realised how alliterative this post is. I am not getting an attack of the Arlenes - I have been reading Simon Armitage's translation of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and it seems to have affected my writing somewhat....
