to point two ........
I DID state in my original post I am a 53 year old hairy arsed trucker who drives all over Europe week after week, month after month. I was down in Valencia Saturday night loading 26 pallets of oranges so that all you extremely well educated people could put an orange in the kiddies stockings tonight!!!

Last year I stuck to the Mattesha thread and had a good laugh with the people in there.
This year I have ventured out into the big wide world of the Forum as a whole and discovered that although I am 'just' an hairy arsed trucker, I am not as ignorant as some on here.
To those that took the time to reply to my original question sensibly and give me another insight into why Tom won, thank you.
To those that decided I was unworthy of a proper answer, I could use some good old truckers language to you but it would most probably been censored.

As someone who knew nothing about dance two years ago, perhaps I saw things this year that were in my imagination ie the improvements I thought I saw in Lisa and Rachel.
I never mentioned Jodie in my first post as the poor girl was on a loser from the beginning being so tall but I had also forgotten she did become a favourite of mine”

Hiya hun

Don't let the grammar police and other rude posters spoil your fun on the forum. How were you to know that the topic's already been covered? Why should you trawl through hundreds of previous threads!

Ignore them. I enjoyed your post even if I didn't agree with it. I wanted Tom to win with Rachel second so I got my wish lol

Enjoy the xmas special x x x

I think Tom is a worthy winner. Just because he was lowest on the leaderboard people are complaining, but they don't seem to have grasped that people weren't as entertained by Lisa and Rachel as they were by Tom. Maybe he wasn't the best technically, but technique needs to be balanced with entertainment and enthusiasm as well. I don't doubt the girls' enthusiasm for what they were doing, but it didn't really come across.”

People would be entertained if a chippendale went out on stage or someone who could tell a joke. I could have fun like JS and be absolutely useless too. Its got nothing to do with dancing though and a lot to do with what females find entertaining. A girl can't entertain a female audience like a male - topless is out for her and scores votes for him (why else do it) , acting like casanova or a cad is out, being loveably bad is out, sheer abandon is out, lots of machismo is out. The logic of a female audience looking for "entertainment" is that a girl will only win if her males are not entertaining enough or macho enough or she dances so much better that its obvious that people ought to vote for her because it would be absurd not to.

I wasn't at all dissapointed with the result. The right person won Strictly in my opinion. Tom has been consistent from the start.

lol...sorry...but I've had quite a bit to drink, but I think your post doesn't make sense. Jill may have won because she danced so much better than the competition, but I think Alesha won because she was so warm and bubbly, she took risks in her performances and she could dance pretty good as well. Both Matt and Gethin surpassed her technically on different dances. Both girls who won were amiable and relatively intelligent as well as good dancers, and I believe they appealled to both males and females. Not sure that Tom is that intelligent, but he came across more amiable (to me) than Lisa, and more intelligent and articulate than Rachel. He can also dance reasonably well. That to me is why he won. He appealled to the largest cross section of people.

Though I can't vouch who rock the female audiences' boats one thing can be sure - Rachel and Lisa, for me as a man, are very attractive. For Rachel, she was the most dance-talented of ALL contestants in this series. Lisa excelled in her ballroom but was still dubious in her latin.

Tom, without knowing him as an actor before SCD, was dance talented too, but less so compared with Rachel (and in ballroom less so compared with Lisa and Austin), but he was very good still. When he sorted out his facial expression since his Tango week I began to sit up and 'listen', so to speak. And from then on, I found his dancing entertaining (and challenging) in a positive way (before that I watched him because I wanted to laughed at his Tomapasta expression! ). Of course, the showdance did clinch it for me. I tried to vote for him but I CAN'T.

He was a good entertainer and a good dancer. Not the best, but very good in both respect. Since SCD is BOTH a dance competition and a popularity contest, he had the highest combined appeal. Not the best, so SOME people might disagree with him possessing EITHER of the aspect of what SCD is all about.

What more is there to say?
