Yes the public can be a bit daft and vote to keep duffers in for longer than they should but the judges judgment can be flawed too and sometimes the talented have bad weeks.”

I follow what you are saying (I wouldn't have specifically picked Emma as the example), but if you view http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strictl...verage_chart_3 based on the judges scores alone Ian & Zoe would have won their season instead. Whereas any of the top 3 were good enough to win (and Darren won that). Sometimes the judges blatantly have their own favourites which I think is unfair, so they are being hypocritical to not let the public have theirs.

I have to admit though I prefer Dancing with the Stars because I think there's less fluffing about and it's straight to the point. It's a shame it's not shown on mainstream tv rather than UKGold/Watch.

Public vote scrapped, judges' vote scrapped blah blah blah...

It's usually quite simple.

If the judges are favouring those dancers that you also favour but the public are not then the public are idiots and cannot be trusted with the vote because they know nothing! Far better to leave it in the hands of the judges who know far more about the subject.

If the judges are favouring those dancers that are not popular with the public and you don't like them either then the judges are biased fools who turn a blind eye to the faults of their favourites and don't realise that the celebs that they deem so fantastic aren't anything like as fabulous as they are claiming and have the personality of a wet flannel.

As far as DWTS is concerned, I like the percentage vote system. Like any system it's not perfect but I think it's better than the one in place at present. However, I don't like the proliferation of tens. Until the last series, any old rubbish was awarded a ten. However, things seem to have reversed somewhat. The last series of DWTS had fewer tens than usual whereas Strictly seemed to be awarding tens for turning up. The major revamp that is being talked about needs to address this issue otherwise I can see tens being awarded on a past history basis:-

Name?
Previously topped the leaderboard?
In favour?

40/40 before you've danced a step unless you really louse things up.

Ironically the dancers themselves are the ones fuffing about and Len sometimes complained but Bruno and Carrie-Ann just lapped it up all the time. So sick of them not in ballroom hold to speak about and doing steps that are sometimes not even remotely close to the actual dance (if you think our Sambas were bad, you should watch the American version - worse than DIRE most of the time).

No fuffin and fussing about regarding the voting system, but nothing else is appealing for me from the American Version.

Then again, 'ordinary' audience who just want to see tricks and gimmicks will ENJOY the American version.

But all in all, the scoring works so much better over there than it does over here. The producers really shouldn't have messed with the format to introduce the dance off, then there wouldn't be all the mess we were left with this year. ”

They follow American Ballroom format whereas we follow British Ballroom format (I think). There are different rules as to how much time can be spent in and out of hold and lifts etc. I prefer ours because DWTS is just so tacky and gimmicky - there is so much leather in the paso doble, and "historical" outfits for the VW - it completely detracts from the dancing for me.

Hmm. Perhaps they should go even further and only let the judges actually see the dances? In other words, scrap SCD as a TV show. They may as well do if they scrap the public vote.
