I thought Jill and Alesha were equally good tonight.

I've always felt it's difficult to make an impact with a slower dance, especially if it was the first to be performed. So Alesha's VW was likely to have faded in the audience's memory when they were voting.

Kelly, whilst still irritating as hell, did well.

I know Lisa and Rachel's performances didn't stand out, but theyv'e been dancing non-stop for 4 months and we've seen so much of them. They are mentally and physically exhausted, and we probably need a break from them.

Please, don't bite again. Bait and hook? Throw a comment out and sit back laughing, waiting for the bite. Does it all the time.

Yes she was defo the best in my opinion as well and looked like a dancer not carrying excess weight.

And yet Alesha is also drop-dead-gorgeous and she seems very popular indeed

Kelly is undoubtedly a very good dancer (which is to be expected given she'd had plenty of prior training), but there's something highly irritating about the girl which is off-putting. Like Lisa, I think she'd have found herself in the dance-off week after week towards the end of last series and ended up finishing 3rd in the final.

What came across for me was that Alesha, Jill and Kelly were all better (maybe in a different league from) Rachel, Lisa and Tom.

I dont understand your comment.
who in your opinion is "carrying excess weight" and whats the got to do with wether kelly was good or not?

I agree with the majority that Kelly was very good tonight but i also agree that there was no way she would have beat Alesha, Matt or Gethin in votes purely because she didnt seem to have the fanbase (just like Lisa didnt this year). Maybe if Brian was her partner last year it would have been different...

I thought I spied some sloppiness in Jill's form but I'm not a dancer.
I'm not talking about the extra weight she's put on!

Well, I did't actually think Kelly's jive was all that - good and fun, but not great.

Alesha's VW cheesed me off a bit because she compromised her ability to do beautiful, romantic, ballroom, and I thought it was a bit uneven generally.

Jill - I've watched it again and I can see some little problems but I loved it - she feels the dance, is great technically, and has a feel for it that I think is wonderful.

I put Jill ahead of Alesha and well ahead of Kelly tonight.

I think they are talking about Jill.

She was carrying a few pounds extra but she has just had a baby.

But Tom, Lisa and Rachel had a day to put together their routines and have been dancing non-stop for 4 months!

The others are fresher, sharper, more rehearsed. They were bound to shine.

I think what made Alesha the winner showed today. Her versatility. It was still beautiful, romantic, and obviously a ballroom dance but a difference version. She's already done many a romantic dance and this was sassy. And she pulled it off as well. That is one of the reasons why she won SCD 5 in the first place, she can take on different characters not just one.

How can you be under rehearsed if you have been dancing for 4 months.

As good as this series has been, they were not in the same league as previous champions.

I agre with both of you. Alesha was stunning woman and much loved by women. Sid you said it for me, there is something unlikable about Kellly and Lisa unfortunately.

Or maybe it just shows how weak this year's contestants were compared to other years? I thought Jill and Alesha were fabulous. Tom did very well but could never compare to those two. As for the others - they were just meh.

Weight makes a Big diference it's not all about the Dancing as recent voting has proved so visual looks come into it as well. and Kelly looked like a Dancer you would go see.

I love Alesha's versatility - but for me the emotional 'reality' of her best ballroom was what I wanted from her - not the 'I'm sassy' bit - I know that, we all do. The romance is what really surprised and delighted me last year.

weight does not make a difference since when has the voting shown this? Personality does make a difference though which is why we've had all 6 of the winners we have. All 6 of them are very likeable IMO.

4 months of non-stop training and then the emotions of the final are bound to take their toll.

I remember Alesha, Matt and Gethin looking somewhat average during last year's Xmas special too.

There's nothing like having some time off and 5 (as opposed to 1) days to put together a routine.

Lisa looked knackered, Rachel was doing a slow Rhumba which was never going to have as much impact and Tom was never going to better his Showdance which will be our lasting memory of him.

I still strongly believe that Austin and Rachel are on a par with previous winners and will prove it at the next special

Actually these Christmas shows blatantly never settle any arguments...that's what's most noticeable...if inconvenient for some of the partisan viewers.

There's an elite group of dancers who on their night can light it up. We saw a number of them tonight. When these people go head-to-head, there's a wide range of potential outcomes...depending on which dance it is, how intricate the choreography and lots of other factors.

What I like about Kelly is she doesn't play safe...either on the dance floor or off it. She's not really scared to say or do the wrong thing. She invites you to form an opinion of her. That's what makes her RTV platinum and one of the most compelling personalities ever cast.

Compelling personality? She bores me to tears!

But yes her routines have always been a bit of a gamble - when they work they are great, but I've also seen some shockers (Paso and Samba being examples).
