I was a fan of Rachel this year but when you compare the look of enthusiasm on Jill and Kelly`s faces when they hit the dance floor you can begin to understand why some described Rachel as dull.Love or loath her Kelly does light up the floor in a way Rachel could only ever dream of.
Rachel had been dancing non-stop for 4 months solid and had just lost a very emotional final a couple of days prior.

Jill and Kelly were bound to appear more fresh-faced and enthusiastic. Plus, they performed high energy dances, whereas Rachel's was slow and sensual.

Kelly for me the one superstar on the special for me, and her banter with Bruce also hilarious but so many don't give her the credit on here...this girl is no fool. And what a wonderful entertainer. Damn, she's great!

Could never never understand the flack she's had but I do wish she hadn't been with Brendan.

Am I the only one who was really impressed by Kelly and Brian's Jive.

I thought it was the best dance ever for Christmas Special.

I can't stop watching this dance, it was so entertaining.

I have to be honest, I was never a fan of Kelly's but damn she was amazing with that Jive and huge credit to Brian for putting together such an exciting dance. I guess this something which Series 6 lacked.
I thought she was fantastic. She was robbed! To have finished second she must almost certainly have been top in the audience vote. Shame the judges placed her so low otherwise she might have won it

What was her excuse for the rest of the series?

......I`am not just talking about the Christmas special.....I loved Rachel this year but she just did`t light up the Dance floor like Kelly;Jill or even Alesha......and last night only re-inforced this point.

Kelly perhaps would have done better without Brendan, he can't put together good routines like the other pro's.

I consider him more of liability than asset to any celebrity, Sorry Brendan girls.

I was surprised after the comments and Craig 10 that the judges put her in fourth place.

Kelly's body shape is probably similar to Lisa, though Kelly is 5 foot 6, Lisa 5 foot 10. Watching Yasmin's clip (missed last night) immediately reminded me of Kelly's stardust and wow kapow. When Kelly stepped on the floor your woke up.

Lisa? Yes she got 20 TENs.

im sure people just start threads like this because they know everyones going make little digs at Rachel and Alesha in them Rachel and Alesha both had slow romantic songs so of course they would not get as many studio votes those types of dances never win on xmas specials.

Theres already plenty of threads where you can praise Kelly and slag off the other 2 you dont need to start more threads saying how amazing kelly is and how rubbish all the other women were last night.

I would be inclined to disagree. What it did prove to me, however, was that Brian can work magic with a partner who has natural ability. I do hope he comes back next year and gets paired with someone good!

Mind you, I do have a problem with Ramps' partner. I might have enjoyed him if he was dancing with someone else.
Karen must have done something really, really horrible to you - I seem to recollect at the start of series 4 you wanted both of them to win! I guess she falls into that 'not everybody's cup of tea' category.

My guilty pleasure (rather than a greatest ever performance) was actually Ramps' jive last year. Loved the energy - even if the red fluffy thing attached to Karen's dress made it look as if he'd dislocated his arm at the end of the dance!

This year I thought Kelly was good and Brian fantastic, but preferred Alesha on the night.

Wonderful show last night. Enjoyed all of them!
Kelly was a revelation with Brian. They looked great together.
Was delighted to see Jill and Kelly as final two. Had a horrible feeling it would be Alesha, as she seems to have such a huge fan base. Have never GOT her myself. She's a good dancer but not the best and all that cackling and excess of personality seemed to mask a multitude of sins!

Well done Jill. Wonderful as ever (Also was the star of the group dance on finals night). Was also happy to see a less than waif-like woman show how it's done.

Looool, did you read my posts before posting that.Assumptions with no single truth.

I started this thread because I was genuinely impressed by Kelly and Brian Jive with no alternative motives. Ironically my support is with Alesha and Rachel rather than Kelly.

Just to add I thought all the women were amazing last night, never rubbish.

But I suppose you are right in the thread being a mistake, sense people can't praise Kelly without criticising Alesha, what a shame.

I have to agree, although I was cheering on Jill all of the women were fantastic, quite incredible really when you think that some of them (Jill, Alesha, Kelly) haven't been practising everyday for the past year and can still perform to such a high standard .

I wasn't a big Kelly fan but it was great to see her back and dancing the jive, which really seems to be her dance .

Yeah, it just goes to show how talented they were in the first place.

well i apologise if thats the case but im so fed up of everyone saying how great and fun Jill and Kelly were and how rubbish Alesha and Rachel. How exactly are Alesha and Rachel meant to be make a VW or a Rhumba "fun" it isnt possible.
Kellys dance was not the best ever. Jill did a much better jive previously as did Louisa Lytton in an xmas special and i can name plenty more dances in christmas specials that have outshone Kelly. Also Kelly did a fitness video with flavia and in it she was doing the jive so shes been training loads more then the others.

You are an exception but I still stand by the fact that a lot of people start threads like this knowing full well its going to cause people to make nasty comments about the other celebs. Theres already a jill V Alesha one and it was obvious this thread would cause there to be similar responses.
I knew it before even opening the thread!

For me Kelly and Brian (mostly Brian) were good but not the best. Not bashing Alesha (I voted for her last year) or Rachel cos I loved her but for me it's Jill everytime.

As far as I'm concerned, the best Christmas dance EVER was Colin & Erin. Hope that put's the cat among he pigeons, as I'm sick of everyone just comparing the girls. The thread did ask opinions about the best Christmas dance after all

Fair points. I think saying best Christmas special dance ever was exaggeration on my part but I still think it was a great dance.

I think the more popular a celebrity is on strictly probably the more criticism they will receive, as it's the case with Alesha. To be honest there is no way to avoid nasty comments on forum. Because any negative comments against our favorites will always be nasty to us.

Exactly, thank you. All I wanted was everyone to discuss their Favorite Christmas dance ever but I guess it did not turn out that way.

My goodness, completely forgot that Colin & Erin did their amazing Quickstep on the Christmas Special.

Right, change of mind, wish there was some way to edit this damn thread title.

Thanks Yasmin. I wanted to bring some sanity to this thread, and it's great that I've reminded you of that great QS

I agree about Brendan being a liability, but I wouldn't say it's because he can't put good routines together. He's choreographed some great routines, and if he hadn't put in the infamous third lift then his and Kelly's American Smooth would have been remembered as one of the best Smooths ever rather than being so controversial. He's a liability because of his attitude, and whoever dances with him probably has a sizable chuck of the audience unwilling to vote from them even before they perform their first dance.

I think he's a bit hit and miss to be honest.

Sometimes his choreography makes me cringe. Other times it's controversial and very rarely it all clicks.

You sure did wildbajanqueen, Colin and Erin QS is one of my Favorite dances of all time, let alone Christmas Special.

I agree about Brendan being a liability, but I wouldn't say it's because he can't put good routines together. I feel the opposite to be honest, I would not care about his attitude if his choreography was up to standard. But I always questioned Brendan’s taste level with his terrible music choices and choreographies which is over dramatic and extremely tacky.

Can you seriously see anyone any other pro approaching that soon to be infamous “show dance” with the expectation that people would want to see it. Not in million years.

The only routines of Brendan’s I liked were the American Smooth he did with Kelly and Lisa’s Viennese Waltz.
