I have to say, this year i have been completed gutted the show is now over for another year!

Even though my faves didnt win (Christine & Matthew and Austin & Erin) i have to say this series has been rather exciting, and i have enjoyed every single bit of it!

So whats everyone going to do tonight then?
I have to say i will probs be moping around and then watch the weakest link to get my only fix of strictly for tonight!

I hope everyone had a great christmas especially Matthew, Christine, Austin, Erin and everyone else

To be honest, I wasn't overly impressed with the series this year - too many 'scandals' left a bitter taste as far as I'm concerned and took much of the fun out of it for me. I didn't really get behind any of the couples. I'm pinning my hopes on next year's being a lot more enjoyable. I hope they keep Brucie though.

Usually I feel sad when the series ends but I'm just not that fussed this year - it hasn't left me 'gagging' for the next series at all.

Actually, we only technically have to wait for another nine-ten months. But it's a LONG wait.

Well dancing on ice starts in two or three weeks time, so that will give us all something to watch and ease the withdrawl symptoms.

I think SCD is gonna be different when it returns. I think we might have new judges, a new scoring system and unfortunaly I think we will lose some of the pro's (some I would miss more than others)

Thats exactly what i say to everyone i talk to!! However, dancing on ice is no where near the same league as our beloved Strictly!! But i supose it will do, i just cant warm to it and get as involved the same way as i do with Strictly.

Unfortunatly i feel the same way, and im really worried about the mistakes the beeb might make about the pros..
they only just about got away with taking away Nicole, but many people watch Strictly for their fave pros and i feel that they should really think about who the public love to watch. or just dont get rid of any?
im so worried that my faves arnt going to return
and im also worried that the beeb are going to change the format in such a way that no one is going to like it..
we can only wait i suppose till around the end of august to see what happens..

I think we're going to see at least two leave. Personally, I hope it's the Jordans, as that would even it up, taking one boy and one girl. I am very worried for my lovely Ian, but he seems to have grown in popularity this series, so fingers crossed.

I think the only safe one really is Matthew Cutler. IMO anyway.

I personally adore Dancing on Ice. I love ice skating and I like the danger element which is missing from SCD. Its not as classy obviousley - but for me Torvill and Dean make the show anyway and its worth it to see them every week.

About the changes. I don't think Hayley will return, same goes for the Jordans but would anyone really miss any of them? The Beeb do really need to be careful with the others though- I think most of the pro's have strong fan bases and axing them could be detremental to the show.

The same goes for the judges. Some say they are getting too big for their boots but messing too much could upset the applecart. I personally don;t think the X Factor is better since the judging panel were messed with. If its not broke don't fix it. If Arlene leaves, then just have the three judges like on Dancing With the Stars.

i wont miss it that much. I watch it and i like it. But can just as easily watch DOI, big brother, britains got talent
Unfortunately i think this year was the worst series so far. Too many scandals and the judges are really annoying me now.

I'm sad too that its finished for this season. I absolutely loved Austin and Erin and was really pleased when Tom and Camilla won the title with their show-stopping showdance.

However, the whole fiasco over judges scores/voting needs to be sorted out. The judges also (IMO) need a good talking too so that they don't ram their favourites down the viewers throats This has caused a lot of the problems (IMO!!) as the viewers do not like to be told what to do and they usually get it right in the end.

The Beeb should also put it on a bit later (no earlier than 6.30 so that a lot of people aren't busting a gut to get home to watch it!), and also have the results show on the same evening.

They would have to be very careful about introducing new Pro's as too many would alienate the viewers as we like some predictability and for things to remain in the same type of format.

Can hardly wait til next year.

I totally agree with your first two paragraphs - and that is why I have been left feeling rather ambivalent about future series of Strictly.

There have been some great dances this series - but it's been short on characters and the rift between the judges and the audience has become wider - thanks to the judges' and the producers' arrogance. We'd see just how wide if the BBC published the weekly votes as ITV did with The X Factor and I'm A Celebrity ... - but I suspect the BBC will resist this for as long as possible in the hope that it goes away, as disclosing the figures might be one expose too much for the show to take.

The judges' blatant favouritism and the producers' unwillingness/inability to manage them has soured the final rounds of the show. It is indeed time for a change, but the reports of making SCD 'sexier' - - just made my heart sink further. The BBC doesn't need target a younger demographic, least of all with Strictly, and its efforts to do so are exemplified by Bonekickers and Spooks: Code 9 - which rather says it all ...

I'm guessing I will probably check out who's in the SCD7 line-up - but I feel very wary about investing my time and energy in a show where the public's opinion is so roundly dismissed. The ball is very much in the BBC's court now. What they do with it is another matter altogether ... are you reading any of these comments, Jon Beazely?

In the meantime, thank Donny & Gaynor for Youtube ...

Agree with Lizzy and Servalan, and what I shall be doing over the year is rewatch my dvds of Austin and Erin.

I hope positives can come out of the series this year, with hopefully the dance off scrapped and the judges egos reined in, or even better a couple of them departing.

Missing entertainment tonight. Dancing on Ice doesn't thrill me so I don't know if I'll watch that. CBB. Get into it too much and too cross at people getting on my nerves. So I'll have to wait for SCD next year. But is dancing on the stars going to be shown on the BBC before SCD next year? I would live to watch that.

Probably find myself sat down watching the first SCD show of 2009 before I realise it. I doubt I'll visit the forum as it just tends to be appreciation threads which are not my cup of tea.

I'll probably spend Jan and Feb getting over excited about the tour Plus Anton and Erin's show.

And after that I'll be worrying that my favourites wont return next series and rewatching dances on youtube.

Yes this is what I'll be watching & also I've kept all the episodes of the last season of "Dancing With The Stars" on my Sky+ recorder & I'm going to watch them one a week for my fix .
The US have two seasons a year so I'm hoping by the time I've finshed the recorded episodes the spring season will be out on Watch. It's not quite as good as SCD imo but if you watch it for pure entertainment rather than technical dancing it's a hoot.
