My husband has given me a gift token for Boots to buy myself some GHD straighteners but I am not sure which model to buy and I dont want to get it wrong as they are so expensive.
Are the wider ones better than the slimmer style. I have quite long hair (about 4" longer than my shoulder) but it is quite fine.
I have texted my hairdresser and she uses both so she wasnt much help
Any help would be much appreciated

I have very thin and fine hair, and though it's shorter now, it was pretty long when I bought my GHDs. I have the slimmer ones and they're great. My stepmum has the wide ones which don't work as well on my hair at all as the thin ones.

I have had both slimline GHD's and wide plate GHD's. My OH got me wide plate ones for Christmas which I prefer as my hair is fine but quite thick which is what they are made for.

My hairdresser told me that the normal size (they are the middle size) were the most versatile.

I hate to say this but I don't think you can buy GHD's in Boots I think you can only get them from certain hairdressers.................I know when I bought mine I was told that boots didn't sell them

Yea, they dont actually stock them in the store but they order them in for you.

My hairs just a little bit longer than yours and ive got the 1" ones, ive tried the really thick ones but there really chunky and i found that they dont slide down your hair as easily, I've also tried the very slim ones and they take ages to straightern all of your hair. I prefer the 1" ones because i find they curl hair better and they dont take ages to do a whole head.

i had the wide, salon ghds but now have the normal size, in pink. i had the wide ones for 4.5 years but replaced them for two reasons:

the new versions have a 30 min shutoff, which will save me from sitting at work worrying that i have fried my cats by leaving them on.

if you get kinks in the inch or two closest to your scalp, its impossible to get these with the wider plates...

i have long thick hair, but only loose waves and the normal plates work just as well.

The wider plate ones are for thick hair, the very thin ones are for styling (curling, flicks, etc.)
I would go with the standard 'medium' size

I paid $299 for the hot pink ones, then saw they brought out purple ones... I want!
