As long as its a manufacturers fault then they will repair it. If it cant be repaired it will be replaced.

If you damage it yourself they are under no obligation to fix it for you. If you have insurance with them that would cover it instead.

Remember if you have Contents Insurance, you may not need additional phone insurance. Check your T&C's

I only have a £50 excess on my Contents Insurance so l don't bother to take out any additional mobile phone insurance. I have claimed a couple of time on this when l have lost my phone in the past.

Personally I think it is a bit of a rip off. I have never taken out insurance or extended warranties on anything (well except car and house insurance lol). Any time I have had problems with my phone I have just taken it back and it is covered under manufacturers warranty which lasts 12 months.

I am also quite careful with my phones. Although I know loads of people who have only had their phones about 3 months and they have already cracked their screen or got their phone really scratched up. I never use a case, but my phone still looks good as new. The glass screen helps, but I just always put change and keys in my left hand pocket and phone in the right. If you are a bit ham-fisted and drop things a lot then invest in a case. It is just common sense really.

...and if it's not automatically covered on the contents insurance, you often can add it for a couple of quid a year.

Mobile Phone insurance is a big rip off, a waste of money, as for losing phones people should look after things properly and not be so stupid to lose them.

Whilst I agree that people should take more care. I don't agree that mobile phone insurance is a rip off. I've lost track of the number of people who post on here because they have broken their phone/its been eaten by the dog and then find they have to shell out full whack for a new handset. Some people are under the impression they won't have to pay the rest of their contract or that the network will replace their phone for free.

Like all insurance, its a waste until you need it.

Agreed. If you dont need it or youre covered elsewhere then of course its a waste. But the amount of people that bring a phone into my shop that they have split drinks over, smashed the screen, lost it on a night out or had their bags stolen with the phone inside is incredible. Half of them then moan that im not just going to give them a new phone and the other half thank me for telling them to get insurance when they bought it from me. A quick phonecall to the insurance company and 95% of the time its sorted.
