Toshiba 37WLT66 - Picture problems
We have a Toshiba 37WLT66, which is about two years old, and has been a great TV since day one. However, since moving house about 8 weeks ago, we have noticed a couple of things - the first being a patch on the screen on some backgrounds, the shape of an anvil, in the top right hand quarter of the screen; its not bad, but on some things (especially blue backgrounds) it is quite noticeable.
The other thing, is that the sound appears to be somewhat weaker than it was - not terrible, but needs to be turned up a bit more; my initial reaction was that this was due to the different acoustics of the new room, coupled with the main source changing from Sky HD to Virgin's V+ service - - however, in the light of the picture issues, I did wonder if the two may be connected? Are there any known issues with these sets, or is it a case of living with this until it gets bad enough to diagnose properly, or worse to the point where we replace the set? |

Bit of a change to the symptoms over the last day or so - on light coloured images, there is a moderate discolouration (shows as either green or red depending on the colour of the image at the time) that looks as though someone has taken a really thick nibbed marker pen, and drawn a squiggle on the screen. Watching Casualty earlier, and there was a visible green 'comet' from just above the middle of the screen, with the tail going back at a diagonal to the bottom right of the screen - about six inches in length at a guess.
Although still not severe, it is now one of these things that I am seeing because I know it is there. If it means anything, the problem seems to be worse if we have a still image on the screen for a few minutes, and happens on either HDMI source that we use (V+ box or BluRay player) - I have not tried it on the built in freeview yet. Is my panel dying? |
