Problem with an internal BT Socket - how much to repair
BrookeBond

Hi there!

I am trying to find out the cost of having an internal BT Socket repaired. The main socket works, along with two other internal sockets and there is also wireless broadband working alright. All of the BT Internal sockets were fitted by BT, so is there anyone from BT / Openreach who could advise the cost of having this put right. Also, what exactly could be the problem? Everything has been working alright for many years.

Thank you.

You are looking at about £200 for bt/openreach to visit and repair faults on customer owned wiring/sockets...the charge broken down into a visit charge for a bogus report on non openreach equipment and a TRC ( time related charge..minimum 1 hr) for the actual time the repair takes...see your phone book for details
BT openreach dont even want this type of work, they have teams who identify possible bogus fault ,contact the end user and explain whats covered and whats not covered with your rental agreement and ask if the end user wants to proceed with a visit when they are aware of the potential charges
Have you had new carpets or building work done thay may have damaged the cable to your faulty extn ???
Its a lot cheaper to buy an extn kit from a diy store or somewhere like argos and re fit a new extn and abandon the old flty one.

i always suggest the good old yellow pages(though other colour pages exist), and look for electricians, they usually have ex bt on the ad.

We don't even know what is the problem you have.

From what i can gather you have more than two internal sockets and two of them are working and one of them is not?

In what way is it not working, nothing at all, or hissing etc.?
