White eyeliner
Finky
28-12-2008
I bought some white eyeliner and used it on the inner lower lid as I thought you were meant to to 'widen the eyes' etc... I look bizarre Should I have bought a less stark shade? I'm reasonably pale.

Also, when I use black on my upper inner lid it invariably prints onto the lower lid when I blink. What can I do to stop this?

If you use black it emphesises the base of the lashes and makes them appear a bit darker.

Surely so does using it on the upper outer lid close to the lashes? I can't say I would attempt to put it on the inners.

Anyway, that doesn't answer your question! I use Smashbox Jet Set Waterproof liner, it doesn't budge once it's on, and it's actually designed to be used for the inner lids as well.

I'm a clumsy oaf and it's much easier to put it on the inner than outer... if I do the outer it ends up wiggly and stupid

That's great thanks, might get myself some of that

I recall reading somewhere that instead of white it was good to use a more cream/peach shade as white can make you look startled.

I think cream/peach sounds better.

White is too obvious. I have tried it and it just looks weird to be honest

If you flick it out a bit at the outer corner of your eye it looks quite good too

Thanks for all this advice Chessie - I'm with Finky on this, I've always wondered about this. Afterall, when you look at images of models on adverts they often have eyeliner on the insides of their eyelids, but whenever I put it on it seems to wash off and end up in the corner of my eye so I look as if a fly has flown into my eye, or something. So, I've written down the one you recommend - looking forward to trying it out too!!!

Many thanks.

I've got the Smashbox Jetset eyeliner in bronze, as the brown was unavailable. It's quite good. I recently sent for the brown from QVC, and it turned out to be too stark looking, so I'm sticking with the bronze. I have to be careful to stop touching my eye area, though, as it does rub off.

I put a tiny bit of white eyeliner on the inner corner of each eye. It really opens the eye up, especially if you use dark eye makeup.
