That's a shame I really like Springfield I first visited them in Spain about 10 years back good store a sort of cross between Gap and H&M. I went to there store in "One New Change" in London after it opened.

Quite surprised again as our stores seem to do ok abroad and there are lots of foreign/international stores over here now

Where is your local Peacocks as none have closed yet

Also with over 100 bidders wanting to buy the company and over 50 of them wanting to keep it as Peacocks they are not gone yet

Bit sad to see D2 jeans vanish from the high street and online.

Seems nobody managed to save this brand.

The latest to leave our ever emptying shopping centre is ICE the jewellery store. A notice on the window says they have decided not to renew the lease and will instead be concentrating on parties and their web site. I don't know much about ICE or how widespread they are or how many other shops they may be shutting?

They've all gone now have they ?

Our local one (Stevenage) closed a few months ago strangely as they were always busy here ? But at the time they were still trading elsewhere they are very similar to "Blue Inc" who are still trading but I'm not sure how there doing ?

I'm sure Game Station use to be owned by somebody else.

Will be sad to see these stores go but I suspect somebody will come in and buy some of them back.

The best scenario would be for Game station to be sold to somebody else and maybe Game restructure and try and go at a different market.

I read they want to get rid of Game Station. I wonder I somebody can buy that part and let Game come back with less stores?

I certainly cant see both brands surviving,

Best case is that one shut down, helping the other survive.

Mentions RBS being the driver behind this and that may have implications for HMV and Clinton Cards too.”

Seems they were right about Clintons.

In a lot of the recent high profile admins, the driving force blocking negotiantions that could have saved the companies seems to be RBS. shear hypocracy it got bailed out by the taxpayer on provision it helped companies through the recesion but it has been instromental in the demise of so many companies, time the government pulled the plug.

I agree. although Clintons was always the top end of the market with the battery operated cards etc. They were too pricy in these times IMHO.

I agree... I too think it's a bit ironic & disgusting that RBS is pulling the plug on so many struggling businesses, when it was the recipient of taxpayer largesse to save it from going bust. You'd think RBS would be more sympathetic instead of throwing them to the wolves.

keep an eye on several other high street shops and a bank .
Santander bank is in a little trouble and has posted huge loses over take overs of british banks includeing the RBS branches they are takeing over in the next 18months.
Dixons group is about to post loses and big ones after the christmas period to may. there is a worry they will have to merge PC world and currys as one shop.instead of running them as a sperate business.
Argos is about to go sunnyside up as been introuble for 2 years now and is about to announce further cuts and staff layoffs There has been rumours of a foreign company after to buy them possibly a chinese or indian company looking to branch into the uk.

Not widely publicised but Petroplus' refinery at Coryton failed to find a buyer causing the loss of 850 jobs in Thurrock when Petroplus went into administration.
