Hope they can survive. They have the best selection of magazines about.

IMO they need to ditch the DVD/CD areas (or offer the space as a concession to HMV or the like).

Wesley Owen, the Christian bookshop chain, is up for sale, ~500 jobs to go

500 staff face axe as religious book shops up for sale

Christian charity forced to put Wesley Owen on the block

Quote:
“Christian bookshop chain Wesley Owen has been put on the market along with its sister companies STL Distribution and publisher Authentic Media, after parent company the Christian book and bible charity IBS-STL UK said it was experiencing "severe financial and operational strains". In total 490 jobs could be at risk if the company fails to find a solution.”

surely God won't allow it to fold? is He going to do something about it?

The staff "are working diligently and praying vigilantly for a successful outcome". They could use some divine intervention.

Have Adams come out of administration now? The Derby store is still open, but the Burton one is closed, but pointing customers to the Lichfield store, bizarrely enough.

I must admit that the range of clothes they've had in there recently have been much better than the ones they had when the administration business started. We've bought a few bits for our little ones in there.

Adams went bust with the recession. A good number of stores shut down. I've seen some open as they pushed a few back. So the ones that are still open are not in administration.

Zavvi is back as a website, I don't think it'll return to the highstreet though.
