Haha, slightly OT, but I heard once - quite possibly on QI - about the Darwin Awards, about people who are honoured for dying in such a stupid way that they are "taking themselves out of the gene pool, improving the human race."

was somebody really THAT bothered to go to the extreme lenghs of ringing the police so they could vote.. surely it meant loads of people were voting already if they couldnt get through..

Perhaps it is time to make give the emergency services a new number as it seems all & sundry use 999 for any perceived emergency.

I work for the police non-emergency call centre & we get the same stupid people calling/emailing us as well.

Then there was the man who called them because the pizza restaurant put mushrooms on his pizza ...and the priest who complained WH Smith in Manchester wouldn't let him use the loo ...I did a lazy journo piece in the end but it's not SCD related so not on the thread here, but if you want to read it:
