Where did this come from? I don't remember this being on, when did it first go out?
And what a rip off Dancing on Ice is of this. They ripped everything off from it. There's a judge the same, some pro ice skaters the same, even one of the contestants!!!!!! No live band playing the music. How come BBC didn't go with a series of this, would have been a good replacement for the real strictly at the other side of the year. And how on earth did ITV get away with such a shameless rip off job, thats worse than cowell's x factor rip off of pop idol.

I don't remember this either, watching with intent! When was this originally shown?

Mmm, Rowland is gorgeous!

EDIT: But he can't skate for shizzle. From the looks of Craig, this must have been around the first or second series of Strictly.

Actually how did BBC get away with such a rip off - ITV had already comissioned Dancing on Ice before Strictly Ice Dancing was comissioned/broadcast: hence the BBC only being able to do a one off Christmas Special rather than a series of it.

Scarlett just mentioned Jill Halfpenny and Chris Parker, so this must have been filmed after series two of Strictly.

OMG Gazza, what a car crash.

The BBC actually ripped off Dancing on Ice by putting their version on air first. It was the Christmas Special in 2004.

Yes but Dancing on Ice was comissioned first. It just took forever to go on air

But surely this was a spin of Strictly come dancing..............just using an ice rink instead of a dance floor????? So surely ITV are the rip off merchants here.

But of Strictly Come Dancing itself, not Strictly Ice Dancing. You can't rip off something that doesn't exist

But Dancing on Ice is a rip off of Strictly come dancing in the first place, Strictly Ice Dancing is just an obvious spin off of it.

Guess you could look at it like that. But then BBC ripped off their own idea and ITV at the same time, which must be some kind of record. The only channel than managed to rip off quite a few ideas in one go in recent times was Channel 4 with Britain's Got the Pop Factor.

But you're saying Dancing on Ice is a rip off of Strictly Ice Dancing but thats impossible because Dancing on Ice was thought of first, and as I've already said you can't rip off something that doesn't exist. But I'm not saying it isn't a rip off of SCD (which it is).

I can't watch it .

Is Jessica Taylor good?

Yes I remember it. It was shown on Boxing Day 2004 and was a one of special for xmas.

I think Nicky Slater from DOI was also a judge on that, and I think Dan Whiston was a pro on both as well.

ITV commissioned DOI first, and then then Beeb hit back with Strictly on Ice. But to be honest it wasn't great. The standerd of skating is not a patch on what you see on DOI and the whole thing seemed a bit cheap and nasty.

Im sure there are some clips on Youtube. I wouldn't mind seeing it again though.

It really wasn't anywhere near as good as DOI.

They did a Strictly African Dancing as well, and that was even worse!

I didn't think it would be good but i'd just love to actually see it.

On WATCH's website it said it was on WATCH+1 at 9.20 but something completely different is on. Do they not even know their own schedule or something?

Strictly on Ice was in 2004 where they moved strictly to ice skating...the BBC decided not to follow through on the concept though and sold it to ITV...it then became Dancing on Ice.

I thought Dancing on Ice was commisioned first and Strictly on ice was a quick way of getting one over on ITV?

I know DOI took ages to come on TV, two years I think? ITV thought it would be a huge flop but showed it anyway and it was a suprise hit and is now one of their biggest shows.
