Katie's account....
Just tried her links from the Jill Halfpenny App, and they're gone. Says, removed by the user. It's just not fair. She only put them up on Xmas Day.

Katie's account....
Even the Breakfast/ITT links???

After all the work she did for them too.

I think the BBC have just created a new show: Strictly Come Farcing.

Maybe I'm a bit thick, and I'm sure someone will tell me, but i've just gone on youtube again and there's a BBC a/c, whereas before i was accessing Katie's. The BBC one is theirs so it's still available??

YouTube has very little advertising on their site and it seems that they make most of their money through partnerships with companies like the BBC. It isn't in YouTube's interest to allow other people to post videos up and potentially lose the business of a big customer... At least the BBC aren't as zealous as companies like Viacom at having material removed!

It's a pain but that's copyright law.

You know what makes me sad? A week or so ago Kristina Rihanoff posted thanking you all for uploading these videos because it's the only way her family back home can watch her dance

This is horrible. I live in the US and youtube is the only way that I get to watch Strictly. I'm so sad for all of Maltipom and SCDancing34's hard work.

^ Ditto.

I really do hate the BBC sometimes. If there's anyway anyone can upload Tom's and Lisa's xmas dances with the training footage to somewhere else, I would love them forever!

It really is the cruellest thing when they do this!

Why wait till people go to all the trouble, then remove them?
It's as though they deliberately waited for people to put in hours of work - as was said previously, the BBC's own videos can't be viewed outside the UK cos of the License Fee - so usually the professional's own families in far flung countries rely on selfless people like malitpom to upload the videos so they can watch their sons and daughters performing abroad on British television!

Gutted, especially after all the effort you've all put in to the uploads. I guess it's copyright law, but it's not as if you're doing the BBC any damage by promoting their programme!

I'm not so much gutted about the dancing, but all the ITT interviews! I'll miss watching them!

Stupid BBC. They are just encouraging people to use BitTorrent and into the realms of sharing high quality copies as opposed to the relatively low quality of YouTube vids.

There's already someone on this thread offering DVDs - To distribute those DVDs would be illegal as the law stands, so be careful! But, the BBC are encouraging people to flout the law by doing stupid stuff like this.

The media companies should be embracing the harmless sharing of relatively low quality YouTube vids, otherwise the masses will learn how simple it is to freely copy & distribute high quality digital entertainment formats.

Copyright law can only be maintained in the digital age if the large majority of the people agree to adhere to it, even though they have the means to flout it. As soon as they lose the people, the law will be worthless and the media companies will need to find an entirely new business model, one not based on intellectual property. If that's what they want, they are going about it the right way.
