just a quick question, can i record from my (old) video recorder onto DVDs with a sony HXD995? I currently do this with my song dvd recorder, but i want to upgrade to a dvd recorder with integral hard drive. Also, at the moment I have a VCR AND my humax 9200 connected to the dvd recorder - can i still connect both into the HXD995 (i assume with scart)?

I'm sure that you can do this, LINE1 is scart and according to the manual would be used to connect an external decoder (satellite) box to allow recording from it.

I've only had my HXD995 for a couple of weeks so I'm not quite together with it yet and I don't have anything plugged into either scart socket and the manual is unclear on the subject because it only talks of using camcorders.
If I have a spare hour I'll see if I can connect my camcorder into the scart to check for you.

So far I'm finding it a good device, apart from the GuidePlus+ not having the radio schedules on it (see my recent thread).
One excellent point is the way that chapters are added to TV recordings on the HDD, it detects the change in picture format during the adverts and puts a chapter in enabling one button press to skip them all. There must be some TV execs unhappy with that little feature.

That's exactly what I'm currently doing using a HXD995....got about 100+ videos to work my way thro.

BTW you can record straight from your VCR directly onto either the internal hard disk or a DVD.

As mentioned above I record thro Line 1.
