Has anyone tried out any of the newly released excercise DVDs from Strictly? I know Camilla has one, Kelly and Flavia have one, and Letitia has one. Are they any good?

Has anyone tried the ones from Dancing on Ice?

I got the Flavia and Kelly one for Xmas, and I would recommend it. I'm not really a natural dancer, but the workouts are really well explained by Flavia, and she runs through each step a couple of times. Theres a Salsa, Tango, QS, and Slow and Fast Jive, that you can work up to. Of course I want to go right ahead and do the Fast Jive even though I can hardly make it through the warm up. Its a good DVD though, and is explained well.

I got Anton's book for Christmas, I've not plucked up the courage to watch the DVD that came with it, but the book is brilliant!

I've not heard of the Anton one I dont think. Is this the one that Flavia does the latin section for...or was that last year?

Thanks for the review! I've been doing Karen and Erin's for awhile, and was looking for something else dancewise.

i've got camilla's and it's good. there's a warm-up, a cha cha/mambo workout, a jive workout, a funky workout, a calorie burner, and then cool down and stretching.

what's karen & erin's like ?

The book and the DVD are great... but I would suggest you read the book for the 4 dances shown first so that when you do watch the DVD you have some ideas of what to expect. Anton explains everything really well (although I thought a little "condescending" in places...)

Karen and Erin's is really good. It took me awhile to master the steps, but once I had them down, it really helped me lose weight. I like the Cha Cha, Salsa and Quickstep the best.

I've been exercising to Karen & Erin's DVD for a while now, but I am getting a bit tired of the music now. I've ordered both the Flavia and Kelly DVD and the Camilla DVD so that I can add a bit of variety. The format of the F&K one looks similar, although I'm a bit disappointed that there's no cha cha (however it's good to see a jive and salsa). I never got into the quickstep exercise on Karen and Erin's DVD. It's the only one I don't do regularly.

Hi all, I'm <<<whispers>>> 60, but reasonably fit.

Would you recommend these workouts for me, or would I be wasting my money.

I can keep up with Rosemary Conley, but found Martine McCutcheon's Dancebody quite beyond me.

Advice please

I have Lilia's latinatone and its brilliant because you can watch the exercises from different angles so you get a better view of the steps. The music is fantastic as well as its very latin style songs as opposed to modern pop music which I think suits the style of the routines better.

Review in OK Magazine of the Flavia & Kelly DVD...

DANCE YOURSELF FITTER

Unleash your natural rhythm and get on the dancefloor to shape up. Strictly Come Dancing fans can practise their moves with professional dancer Flavia Cacace and Kelly Brook, who have released a new DVD.

Complete with warm-up and cool-down drills, the workout has all you need to recreate four energetic dances – the quick step, which tones arms and legs; the salsa that targets waist, back, shoulders and arms; the jive for a great backside and the tango which will help strengthen your stomach without doing a single crunch! Strictly Come Dancing – The Workout With Kelly & Flavia

Strictly Come Dancing star Flavia Cacace: says: ‘Dance definitely isn’t a sedate pastime – it’s a bone fide alternative to the gym, a total body workout. It uses every muscle and helps your co-ordination and posture as well as shaping your body.’

just watched about 2 mins of karen & erin's on youtube. it looks really good, and more dancey than camilla's, camilla's is more like aerobics.
does anyone know the running time of k&e's ?

Had a look and its 1hr 40 mins.

I've got both this one and the Flavia & Kelly one soapgirl...and out of the two I prefer the Flavia one. others could possibly disagree though, so if you're looking for one to buy, maybe get more opinions.

I can only speak for the Karen and Erin DVD. I'm just over 50 now, and found them ok to keep up with. To be honest, getting the steps right is the more difficult challange. If you can do this then the cha cha, salsa and samba exercises are reasonably easy to keep up with and you can adapt them to suit your fitness level anyway. The jive is a bit more taxing, especially if you have any weakness in the knees or balance problems. But I have found that my balance has improved through doing it. I notice that the Flavia and Kelly DVD has both a slow and fast jive.

I'm having difficulty deciding between Camilla's and the Flavia and Kelly DVD.

As I have limited floor space would appreciate some advice on which would be more suitable.
