took my money via paypal. offered a code that failed to work,
excuses, and no further communications. paypal was unable to
claw the money back from the vendor. thus leaving me out of pocket 49.99
and no unlock code for my blackberry.

TREAT WITH CAUTION.

Paypal are obliged to refund you, don't let it drop

I wouldn't trust any websites offering unlock codes. There are too many scams these days.

The vodafone store told me they would unlock their phones for £20 and most towns have independent phone stores that can do it for you.

I'm sorry to hear you've got scammed. Don't give up trying to get your money back.

If it was via your Credit Card as opposed to Paypal funds, try claiming back via the Credit Card company

Please don't stop trying to get your money back, don't let them win get paypal on the phone talk to them as nice as possible but be persistent and keep calling them! Dont believe for a second that paypal cant do it. I had magically transferred £300 through my paypal to someone I logged in one day and got a security message about an unauthorised transaction and £300 sucked from my bank account, apparently my account was taken and they blamed it on me saying someone figured out my password (funny how they didn't change my password). I got it back eventually.

if you have had the phone past your contract period you can get it unlocked for free. We are talking £50! right? so get your money back first!

I can't believe you paid £50 for an unlock code! Did alarm bells not ring at the time?!

I was actually thinking the same myself.

looked at the site...they seem to be north america based... it looks like $49.99 ... still expensive especially at current exchange rates

pursuing paypal for refund is probably the best approach... don't let them fob you off
