Hitachi 37" Digital LCD TV L37VP01UC, please help
hello everyone,
I have just bought a new Hitachi 37" Digital LCD TV L37VP01UC from Comet for £499.99. I have connected it all up but I am having problems with the picture, particularly when watching through Sky+. The picture is really grainy in the background on programmes and the edges of people etc are all a bit fuzzy. I originally had a regular 20" TV and this is my first big, LCD TV so was expecting a much better picture, however the picture on my old TV was far superior. I went back to Comet and they gave us a new scart lead (expensive £40!) to connect the TV and the Sky+ which they said would fix the problem, however it has not made a slight bit of difference. There was another lead for £60 should we buy that one instead? I have also got the following connected to the TV: Alba DVD player connected by scart lead to TV Funal Video player connected by analogue lead to TV Wii connected by the 3 colour (red, yellow, white) lead/socket to the TV Please can someone help us sort this problem out. It would be very much appreciated. Thanks Happy new year!

One thing which may make this better is to go into the picture settings and turn down the picture sharpness.
I had to do this on my Toshiba 42x3030D when I first bought. |

I too had the same problem when I brought my sony bravia while the colour is amazing the picture quality wasnt the greatest.
However there are some things I found that made the picture quality better sit as far away from the TV as you can, this meant that i had to move the furniture around in my room which was a pain but the further away you sit the better the picture quality gets. The thing to rememeber with an LCD TV is that the picture is constantly refreshed by pixels which give the grainy picture quality up close. also note that some older films/programmes are broadcast in really crap picture quality. call me cynical but this may be an attempt to get joe public to subscribe to HD channels I've heard that having a gold scart cable is supposed to help but cant confirm or deny this. Having said that if its a hd tv you have wait untill you watch a blu ray disc or play a hd game then you'll be blown away |

NO! , NO !Quote:

Gave us ? - if so no issue - otherwise I would take it back for a refundQuote:

Unfortunatly you've been sucked into the Full HD TV situation, when quite frankly a 720P set would probably have suited you better. The higher resolution of a Full HD set will often make the SD ( sky/freview) picture look much worse Quote:

While indeed thats true - ironically when (if) you do go Full HD you will have to sit closer than you might otherwise to get the benifit of Full HD (unless its a vey big set >= 50")

One other thing to check: make sure that in the settings for your skybox, that the output is set to RGB and not PAL - have seen this lots of times and makes a big difference on any tv.
