Putting dvd's onto my ipod touch???
My autistic kid brother got an Ipod touch for christmas, he wants to put some of his dvd's onto it so he can watch them if there is a power cut (don't ask)
I've downloaded loads of programs off the net that claim to do this and they don't. He has the money to buy a program to do it but a lot of the reviews on Amazon/Play say they don't work either. Does anyone out there have a program to do this, if so where do I get it from? I'd prefer to buy disk version from somewhere like play rather than a pay to download from somoewhere I'd not heard of. |

DVDFab Platinum + Mobile Option will do it, (including getting round copy protection), but it's not free.
You can try it out as shareware, to see how it goes and if you like it, but i don't know whether or not it places functional limitations for trial use. |

I do it for free, in fact just earlier I watched High School Musical which I got from my DVD.
You need 2 bits of software, one to get rid of protection, the other to encode the files into an iPod Suitable format. The first one, DVD43 and the second is Handbrake. (Click links to download software) Then, it's just a matter of inserting the DVD, DVD43 will remove the protection on the fly, and upon Launching Handbrake you will be able to encode the file. Just select iPhone/iPod Touch in the Profile section [right hand side] and set the screen size to 480 x 272. Should have a iPod Touch ready file (probably more than 500MB for a 90 minute film) in good quality ready for transfer via iTunes in about 2 hours, depending on your PC's processor. Hope that helps, any trouble - let me know. I've used that methods for a few months now and has been hassle free once you get configured. Everything is free, and no trail versions - no annoying watermarks in the middle of the film either!

Handbrake for mac does the same as the pc version, although it can't read different region dvd's.
