Saint Etienne have had an incredible (AFAIK) 58 B-sides throughout their 19 year history!! Only 1 or 2 duds among them!

Madonna has only 8 i believe from over 60 singles! Kylie has quite a lot more....

Anyone know who has the most?!

Garbage have a fair few - I'd say about 35. Hardly a bad one out of the lot

Kylie has quite a lot aswell, as does Robbie Williams and Pet Shop Boys. Madonna is a right tight bitch !

As far as pop music goes not many artists do them now It's all about the remixes. I know Pink still has them, but she's in the minority.

Nah nowhere near. They only released around 20 singles so they're not even close to the Stones...or Quo.... it would have to be acts that have been around consistently releasing singles for 30 years or more. Cliff's been releasing singles since the late 50s, that's nearly 50 years! Has to be him or Elvis, surely.

yeah the Beatles only had a few genuine b-sides like "Rain".
CLiff and Elvis did release a lot of singles but I wouldn't personally know if their b-sides were stand alone tracks meant as b-sides or album tracks where used or live versions of popular hits.

A real b-side to me is a track which is unavailable anywhere else. Suede and Pet Shop Boys are and were masters at making classic b-sides.

I remember when i l iked Oasis, their B-sides were always better than the main single! I never understood that. Why put drivel onto the album and the amazing songs as b-sides?

I counted 70 original single B-sides from the Pet Shop Boys, of which 7 are covers. If you also include the 6 tracks on Relentless (effectively the C and D-sides of "Very") plus "Fugitive" from the limited Fundamentalism and "This Used To Be The Future" from the limited Yes Etc., that knocks the total up to 78 tracks, of which 71 are original.

Depeche Mode may have more than that but I can't be arsed counting them. (Actually I just have and they've only 40 or so as a lot of their b-sides were live tracks or remixes).

Slightly off topic, but did you know that I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor was a B-side?

Maddest thing about The Smiths is they were so prolific "How Soon Is Now" which is arguably their most popular song of all was originally a bonus track on a 12 inch single. It became so popular they released a seven inch mix of it.

back in ye olden days - an album was a collection of singles - so some albums contained b-sides and others didn't - sometimes it depended on how many singles were released and what could be fitted on the vinyl.

most bands included their 'b-sides' in their retrospectives and there are some bands whose complete collection does cover everything officially released.

the 'double a side' was an innovation - 1960s - Beatles and Elvis both released some double-As. I think it was to get more chart exposure at the time.

Remixes aren't really B-Sides unless it is a new song to start with
