iPhone 3G unlock available - good news it's not limited to older basebands!

So prior to what was initially thought you can now soft unlock ANY 3G iPhone. There was much talk that only an earlier baseband version would be unlockable and that the 2.2 update prevented the unlock. However as long your phone is on 2.2 with baseband 02.28.00 (which should be everyone that has updated using itunes) you can now unlock.

Perhaps not so useful for folks locked to am 18 month contract but excellent for PAYG buyers who don't want to be locked to O2.

Hi slightly O/T, does anyone know if you can jailbreak the 2.0 iPod Touch (as in the new hardware, not just the software upgrade), I've read that you cant, and I'm dying to try winterboard and similar apps on my ipod.

Did mine yesterday and it works perfectly here.

iPhone on o2 monthly contract. Jailbroken with "QuickPwn" on Windows PC. Installed Yell0wsn0w via Cydia and it worked flawlessly. Orange pay monthly SIM worked without any problems. Not yet tested with any other networks but it stands to reason all should be well
