They ruled out the chuckle brothers saying they are not the sort of people they are looking for. But are keen to sign Simon Cowells half-brother just because he is related to Simon Cowell??!!!

How ridiculous does this sound? Who and what the hell does this man do?

Why don’t we invite all the x-factor rejects too? The BBC are a disgrace and have shown themselves for being attention seekers who would do anything for cheap publicity.

The good ole chuckle brothers worked for BBC and were great. I guess they are not hip, trendy and cool for BBC. Oh and I forgot they don’t want to risk any person who might end up being another JS.

If Simon Cowells brother dances in SCD - I would boycott it of principle. Not that it would make a difference because i know most SCD wont care as long as they could see their favs - Erin, Brendan et al... (sorry for stating the truth).

 Can you not make a suggestion without also attatching snide comments to it? Of course people watch for their faves, but it doesn't mean they don't care about who they have on the show.

I would take all these "celebrity X linked to Strictly 2009" stories with a pinch of salt if I were you. It's only January.

I would hope the BBC would not invite Simon Cowell's brother onto Strictly, I doubt the rumours are true. I really do not want to see the standard of the "celebs" get worse.

I am gutted that the Chucklebrothers have been rejected. I reckon the fat one would be really good at ballroom and Lillia will do very well with him.

The thin one could be parnered with Camilla and we will get to see some scary latin

I reckon they will look for someone tall and posh for Ian.

A nice sassy Eastender for Darren.

A sportsman with big muscles and a cheeeekjdfakjjjjjjjjlavkls- sorry fell asleep on the keyboard there for a moment.

Is what I'm 'on about'.

Well their cast list so far has nearly always included

Someone who is about leave/ just left Eastenders
Someone from Casualty/ Holby City
A retired sports person (or summer sports people like cricketers)
Someone from a big ITV show
A token "older" contestant
A GMTV presenter
A faded popstar looking to kickstart their career again
A newsreader/ serious show presenter

they have also had celebrity chefs and other miscellaneous presenters......

Would like to see someone like Kelly Holmes or one of the 3 blondes in a boat have a go - Denise Lewis has been the only spotsWOMAN to have appeared on it. Or as the couple - what about getting Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean (or Barber and Slater??)

1x breakfast TV presenter
1x daytime/early evening show presenter
1x person who will be filming exit storyline from Holby/Casualty/The Bill.
1x singer/person who was in a relatively popular pop group a few years previously
1x Ex-Eastender
1x recently retired ex-Olympic athlete.
1x recently retired sportsperson from another sphere (rugby or cricket for preference)
1x older broadcaster. If unfit or has no sense of rhythm so much the better.
1x TV chef
1x person who will be fronting a new show in the near future.
1x Comedian. If unfit or has no sense of rhythm so much the better.

Any (or all ) of these categories are open for duplication as necessary.

Only 'zelebs' on SCD in 2009 will be more of the same 'faded' pop stars , bored sportsmen , half baked news readers & gonks nobodies ever heard off

Only thing that needs working on for 2009 is finding Bruce some decent jokes.

How do the BBC stand with cross-over between similar programmes on ITV?

Kelly Holmes 'did' Dancing on Ice a couple of years ago, so could be excluded on that.

Torvill and Dean - and Barber and Slater really heavilly involved in Dancing on Ice (although one or the other judged on the Strictly on Ice, but that was before Dancing on Ice started, I think ) and also are actual Ice Dancers - which could be a bit of an advantage . Imagine the threads!

I know that on DWTS they had an Olympic Gold medal winning figure skater who was obviously advantaged, but don't know if anything was said on any forums about it? The best we could come up with there would be Joanne Conway!

The bit on Torvill & Dean was tongue in cheek - I don't think they would do it for one minute - if nothing else Chris is based in the US these days!

I don't think being on DOI would exclude Kelly - although she might not be keen to put herself up for poisonous comments from sarky Australian choreographers again though!! BBC don't seem to mind their former stars going on I'm a celeb or DOI

I just wonder where the selection cut off falls. It's interesting to ponder if T&D would actually be eligable under the rules, whether they wanted to do it or not. Similarly, would being trained in a pretty similar discipline on a rival channel be enough to bar you from entry?

To be honest, there are a number of celebs who just seem to bop around from one RTV show to another - one minute they are learning to cook, the next dance, the next they are being hairdressers.

A good way of seeing a couple of SCD players before the series was to see who was on Celebrity Masterchef at one time!

Kristi Yamaguchi, who went on to win .

Trust me! There was a lot of discussion about Kristi's advantage, both positive and negative .

It's "a source" telling The Sun.

That should be more than enough.

And i really have a strong feeling Adrian Chiles is going to be asked to do it!

They could have some superheroes on.

The Joker could do a strangely camp yet menacing ChaCha,

LEN: Well - that dance just didn't suit you, sorry Joke.

JOKER: Why so serious?

LEN: But I wish I had an eleVEN!

Batman wouldn't half come in for some stick from Len though. All that 'faffing about with the cape'.

Perhaps they will try for a female Celebrity Chef for a change! Delia or Nigella

oh that?lol I spoke truth because having Simon Cowells brother is not a strong enough reason for fans to abandon the show.

Would it bother you if he was dancing consdering he is not a celebrity and just the half brother of the most smug man in Britain?

I think it would take alot more maybe having someone like Gary Glitter might do the trick to anger fans and force a boycott?

It is far too early for the BBC to be choosing celebs for the next series.

I'm sure a thread will be started as usual later in the year about all the possibilities - most of whom turn out to be wrong.

Id rather Dick and Dom than Chuckle Brothers
And I think Martine McCutcheon will be a high possibility in the Ex-EastEnder for Darren Bennet field
