Which components dont work, is it sound or vision or both?

If you are using scart leads for both connections, sky and DVD player or wotever, you can connect sky to AV1 or Ext1, and connect a scart lead from your DVD player to AV2 or Ext2. They should open automatically on screen once you switch them on, as long as you dont switch both on at the same time.

I have 6 scart leads connected as well as 3 HDMI leads which means I have to use a scart connection box for both DVD/VCR recorders, Multi Region DVD player, and V+ decoder and Sky decoder.

If there is nothing showing on Ext2 you could have a faulty scart lead, so check that out first by switching scart leads around.

Good luck!

Instead of only telling us the equipment that you have, why not also tell us how the equipment is connected to one another? For example:

Sky TV scart to TV AV1.
Sky VCR scart to DVDR AV1.
DVDR AV2 to TV AV2.

etc etc etc.

That way, we can at least begin to guess what piece of equipment needs what settings putting into it.

No doubt the scart sockets were labelled differently (or the like) and you have an output only scart socket connected where you once had input/output.

See previous post from WW for more info on the obvious spaghetti you are dealing with and we will try to unravel it!

Right i am doing as follows
tv to dvd/hdd HDMI
Scart 1 tv to scart 1 dvd/hdd
scart 2 to scart on home theater (only 1 scart on HT)
Sky scart to dvd/hdd scart 2
audio left and right from tv to home t.
then audio sky to h t.
Just tried it and i get as follows
HDMI dvd/hdd
Ext 1 sky but only when dvd/hdd is on so can't watch sky without dvd/hdd being on which is not right??????????
Ext 2 H T And records sky?

Might be wrong here.

First off remove the scart from DVD to TV as it's already connected via HDMI - then.........

DVDr HDMI -> TV HDMI
Sky scart (TV) -> TV AV1/AV2
Sky scart (VCR) -> DVDr AV1 if it's input/output, if not AV2
HT scart -> TV AV1/AV2
Sky audio outs -> HT audio ins

If you only have one RGB input on the TV it's up to you which you have connected, Sky or Phillips HT.

A couple of improvements.....

Sky scart (TV) -> DVDR AV2 (as now)
DVDR HDMI -> TV HDMI (as now)
Remove scart from DVDR to TV as suggested above
remove audio lead from sky to HT as this is superfluous (you cant get anything other than stereo/DPL from here so just use the phono lead from the back of TV to HT, gives identical result).
When playing DVDs use HT for full DD 5.1 sound
To record Sky set DVDR to AV2
Should pass Sky signal through to TV when DVDR in standby.
If you need to record digital but watch Sky then connect scart from Sky VCR socket to TV AV2

BUT......seriously...............get Sky+, no sky subscriber should be messing about with a vin ordinaire Sky box and be recording to a DVDR.
YES, use a DVDR for archiving back from Sky+ but once you've had one, there will be no more of these complex posts!!

Good!

It's funny that people who struggle to understand connectivity invariably document connections like this

T V scart 1 to sky2

when others who seem to get on better would say

Sky TV scart ---> TV AV1

emphasising the route that the signal would take.
I always start with the input devices and work out the rout to get to the display or audio device NOT the other way round............

Just a thought.

Is guide+ the EPG for your DVDR?
Can you use this for recording digital programs off-air?

Have you tuned in all the digital channels?
Have you the appropriate RF cabling in your set up?
Did you press the 'timer record' button?

Rgds,

You may find this auto-connector helps.

Reading through this page may help, too.

( Not suggesting that earlier explanations are inadequate, I'm merely offering an alternative/additional option )
