I think that we can confidently predict that, despite the edition being advertised as being available from <insert date> most newsagents and supermarkets will not display it until about a week later.

I can predict now that after perrusing the edition for the best part of two hours , they will still only show 2 programmes worth watching & a few half decent films will be shown when its time to goto bed. Dr Who will be another shouting/explosion fest & the funniest programmes shown will be repeats of Morecambe & Wise , The Two Ronnies & Dads Army.

Why they just dont save money this year & reprint the 2008 one save evrybody the hassle.

Better hotfoot it up to M & S in Tring so I can be the winner for the third year in a row.
I put mine in the recycle bin this morning, and as the first to get it this year I therefore had use of it for longer than anyone.
If we had a pet I could use it for bedding and get many more weeks of use out of it.
It may be recycled as loo paper, so I may yet get to use it again!

Hi! Davads
Good on you for starting such a light hearted thread, don't you think the days race by now?.

It seems only yesterday we were looking forward to celebrating the millennium, yet here we are not only into the last year of the first decade of the new millennium. But January 3rd already.

Good on you again.

I take it you are joking / being ironic?
If not, maybe you should be a little concerned for your own state of mind.
The 'Countdown to' the 2008 edition didn't amaze me as it is typical of this forum, but it did make me feel better about my own state of mind.
Which was nice.

Get a shredder, saves on that manual ripping up.

Anyone who has kept their Christmas Radio Times issues over the years may be interested in the following. These were the final prices paid in recent in e-bay auctions.

Mint = Perfect
Good = May be some wear or newsagent scribble
OK = Some programmes may be marked
Marked = Heavily marked by pen

1953 (ok)..........................£42.99

1964 (ok)..........................£51.00

1965 (mint)...................... £51.00

1966 (ok)..........................£42.99

1967 (ok)..........................£62.00

1975 (good).....................£26.01

1987 (marked)................. £3.21
1987 (ok)..........................£5.53

1991 (mint).......................£5.50

1992 (good).....................£3.01

1999 (good).....................£3.01

2008 (mint).......................£9.50 (yes really!)

(The first double issue was 1969, before this they were still weekly issues)

You're probably right though.

I only ever tend to by the Radio Times at Christmas and normally they have something a little more "traditional" on the front cover.

Having Wallace & Grommit on the front was a bit of a disappointment.

Not always though as this selection shows http://www.radiotimes.com/content/fe...mas-covers/01/

This is a very excellent thread! I found the 2008 countdown too late - in January this year - and have just put "The Official Christmas Radio Times Countdown Thread" into Google, only to be taken here. FANTASTIC! It's never too early to look forward to the Christmas Radio Times, and Christmas starts (for me at least) in September, when Christmas cards and chocolate selection packs appear in the shops; and we are already half way to September! Call me 'sad' if you like, I don't care!
