I agree fugitive.

There are some excellent Christmas cartoons that have been shown over the years. Even as a 52 year old adult I'd rather watch a Christmas cartoon than endless repeats of Cash in the Attic.

I also can't believe the lack of Christmas related programmes on the CBBC channel!

I have in fact e-mailed Points of View and filled in the survey on the BBC Trust website and have raised this very subject.

I was privledged to see the front covers of the Christmas Radio Times issues on Friday afternoon, over 12 hours before general release!

So they've got 2 different Christmas Covers for the first time in their history! I'm gonna pick up the Doctor Who cover as it looks better than the Strickly Come Dancing cover.

So hopefully, I'll get the Radio Times tomorrow. We seem to be days behind London every year.

I guess the January 2-8, 2010 Issue will be available from December 26

Also the staff at Radio Times are good. If you don't get the magazine then they'll send it free, saving £2.20. Well thats what they offered me last year. Result!

I saw it this afternoon for sale in Boots in Elgin, and the WH Smith in Aberdeen railway station. Have not had a look in any shop here in Edinburgh today.

I live in N Ireland and I've yet to get my Christmas RT on the day we should, this year being Tuesday. My husband works in Belfast so it's not like I'm looking for it in a little village shop. So tomorrow both myself and my husband will look for it and, hopefully, this year will be different...but I won't count on it

Hats off to you emails!

You are definately the most enthusiastic xmas RT fan! I hope you get your copy very soon. I cannot believe you actually contemplated going to London or Derby just to get your hands on a copy as soon as possible.

The thing is, it's your posts I remember from last year's thread. Unfortunately, you seem to be having the same trouble getting hold of a copy as last year! Chin up mate, guess us northerners are going to accept that we'll always get our xmas RT later than some parts of the UK.

The only time I ever got the xmas RT early was when my wife worked for the printing company (mentioned earlier in the thread). Next Year I suppose you could try getting a xmas job on the presses, or even arrange a family trip to London for the Sat 4th Dec 2010. However, I hope that the 'person-in-charge' at Radio Times gets in their car & drives to Chester with the very 1st copy just for you!

p.s. I live in Wakefield and haven't got my xmas RT yet either.

I can understand you might want Welsh editions but why do your customers want the London edition of RT when there are virtually no variations in the English regions

I don't have a problem with BBC 2 not showing CBBC or CBeebies after 8.30 as they are available to the vast majority these days as separate channels anyway but a little surprised at the complete lack of any family friendly daytime shows on BBC1 on those days. I know it is arguable Only Fools and Horses fits that description but I don't think that is of as much real appeal to the younger end of the audience as say Shrek. Why not a family film at 3.30 on those days at least.

Mind you from Christmas Eve BBC1 seems to go into overkill with hours of family films back to back most days - typically from 10am to 6pm. So overall I don't think there is much ground for complaint.”

The solution to this 'lack of CBBC' issue, instead of shoving all the CBBC programming on BBC Two, the BBC should have put it on BBC One where it rightly traditionally belongs. BBC Two's morning and afternoon schedule should be left for old films and Christmas specials.

As it stands though, I too am really surprised by BBC One's schedule between 21st-23rd December. The BBC seems to think showing Homes Under the Hammer and Cash in the Attic represents festive programming when in fact it's just a bore fest!

I've also recieved a reply from the BBC after I raised my complaint regarding the lack of seasonal programming in the run up to Christmas and this was their reply...

Thank you for your e-mail. I understand you're unhappy because you feel if our Christmas schedules broadcast daytime television programmes then it would ruin the schedule. You believe that programmes such as 'Heir Hunters', 'Escape to the Country', 'Flog It!' and 'Animal Park' don't have a place in the schedule as you also feel these are only used a space fillers for the period.

Your right to confirm that our schedules haven't been finalised yet as our schedules are only confirmed 10 days in advance and until a programme appears in the schedule we'll have no further details available as to what will be shown. You can find the latest schedule on our website at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/tv However I appreciate your concerns as you feel the previously mention programmes should take a break over the festive period and I'd like to assure you that I've registered your complaint on our audience log. This is a daily report of audience feedback that's circulated to many BBC staff, including members of the BBC Executive Board, channel controllers and other senior managers. The audience logs are seen as important documents that can help shape decisions about future programming and content and all feedback we receive, whether positive or negative, is always appreciated. Thank you again for contacting us.

At least my complaint has been logged and hopefully this won't happen again. Although I'm not holding my breath

Yes which is hard to believe is just a little over 2 weeks away

The early schedules for the first week of 2010 are now up on DigiGuide as well. I have to say, by the looks of things, Saturday 2nd January looks like any ordinary Saturday to me. The 2nd Jan schedules used to be like an extension to Christmas and New Year, almost like a Bank Holiday.

Still early days though. The schedules for the first week of 2010 should be confirmed by the end of this week/early next week

I see Channel 4 still hasn't been updated on digiguide (not even for New Year's Day!)

Very poor considering you have to pay for digiguide.

Yeah I couldn't believe it when I browsed DigiGuide this morning to find Channel 4's schedule still isn't up for the New Years week.

DigiGuide seem a lot slower updating their Christmas schedules this year. Whether this is being done on purpose I'm not sure. But considering some of us are paying for the service, you would have thought they would make sure the full schedules were up well before now

Still waiting here in the Black Country for our independent newsagent to have the Christmas edition, got next week's on Sunday. May well pop to Asda and see if they have it yet.

the C4 sitution is unacceptable, I really like the Digiguide software and the basic idea behind it, recently there are delays in listings appearing I can not account for.

I have paid for two years, and would like to continue to do so in the future, but they need to do better.

I agree. I renew my DigiGuide subscription on a yearly basis and have done now for the last 3 years. My subscription is up for renewal in February. I'll probably re-subscribe again as I find it really convenient and useful, however it's unacceptable when they can't provide listings for a channel that you can get elsewhere.

To be fair to DigiGuide, they have actually improved in 2009 and generally have full weekly schedules a little bit earlier than they did in previous years. It's only really been the Christmas listings that have let them down.

very true it is the christmas listings that have made them look bad, but even if you consider it this C4 sitution is ridiculous.

Generally C4 is always late (for what reason I dont know) and there is a delay on Five (not Five USA & Fiver) which I dont understand as I get my PI long before Digiguide puts the listings up, ok the PI still has some TBA, but not that much, its not like Digiguide users dont know the first download is subject to change.
