I think there is more chance of the Wallace & Gromitt films being shown on BBC2 this Christmas. I know the older W&G films have been shown on TWO before, so they may decide to show them again, rather than on BBC1. However with them being as popular as they are, schedulers will probably fit them in the BBC1 schedule somewhere.

I think there could be some, but it would be a bit unusual to just have one programme at the centre of all the xmas idents.

I would think it more likely to have Doctor Who (and maybe the master) on the cover of the xmas radio times.

I think the idents were based on Wallce & Gromit last year?

I hope the new RT editor doesnt have a fascination with Dr Who like the old one did - he seemed to be on the cover every other week

I'm sure we'll have at least one Doctor Who cover in the run up to Christmas. I actually liked the TARDIS Christmas cover but I can understand people who are not fans of the programme not liking the covers. I must admit I wasn't so impressed with the Wallace and Gromit cover last Christmas,I'd actually prefere to have a generic Christmas cover.

The Wallace & Gromit cover was the best one for ages I thought. Really interesting, lots of little touches that you don't notice at first.

Dr Who cover for Xmas? Please no!

I would say though, they cannot go wrong if they do a generic Christmas image or Santa or something.

TBH the only cover that I haven't really liked was the Harry Potter one. It just didn't seem Christmassy to me

Surely not! The worst was "Christmas in Albert Square" from 1986...

I realise this thread is about the Radio Times Crimbo Issue, but what of the competitors? Does anyone get the TV Times Christmas issue or any of the other ones? I'd be interested to know what people think of the others.

I'm tempted this year to buy the TV Times as well as RT!

I sometimes buy TV Times too (especially as its usually out before the Radio Times)but there just isn't the same 'glow'. Its not as good a magazine and the listings aren't as detailed so maybe that is why I don't consider to be as much of a cornerstone of xmas as the RT. I think most of the recent xmas TV Times covers have had generic and safe christmas themes. None of their covers really stand out.

My favourite xmas RT cover was the one with the xmas village on a hillside where all the houses formed a xmas tree shape :

It would be great to see something as innovative as that again.

Radio Times Cover should be like Snow or Christmas Carol or have Christmas party on the table, presents, etc.

Maybe they'll have another Father Christmas? if they don't have a programme centric cover, it tends to be a Santa, which in my opinion isn't a bad thing!

The Radio Times has featured Father Christmas on the cover 8 times since 1981.
