"You's"? What do you mean?

I was bad because Brendan was struggling to lift Lisa and it was a poor imitation of the professionals' dance.

Lisa and Brendan's showdance is a matter of personal taste. A moment where much of the technical accuracy has gone out of the window (maybe due to the fact that she'd just been eliminated), and we're left with a Meatloaf song, a questionable outfit, and lifts that don't work.

Personally, I think that combines to make something utterly hilarious.

I think it was cruel to expect them to dance the showdance when they had just been knocked out the competition. A good showdance needs a healthy dose of adrenalin to get it going and with Lisa and Brendan, having just been knocked out the final - even though they had scored the best marks with the judges, which much have added to the disappointment - the adrenalin just wasn't there.

Even without that, they were at a disadvantage as Lisa is so tall. Swinging her about above Brendan's head, just wasn't going to be an option, so they had to come up with something else. It was a good concept, and had it worked, it would have been fine.

It is something Strictly's done before, though - the third couple dances the showdance after they've been evicted. Can't remember back to series 1, but I remember Julian and Erin did a lovely showdance, and Zoe and Ian's is one of my favourite.

If you want to know what was so bad about it, have a look at the thread 'Lisa's showdance' - that will explain it all to you. But if you don't know just by watching it ......

Have to say I disagree. The concept was hopeless because it was never going to work. Brendan is not built to do glorified gymnastics and neither is Lisa. I think the fact that this was all he could come up with shows up Brendan's fundamental lack of imagination as a choreographer - it was a poor attempt at copying the World Champions showdance from the previous week - coupled with his lack of judgment as to his own abilities, let alone his partners. Swinging Camilla above Tom's head wasn't much of an option for them either but it didn't stop Camilla putting together a routine that did work at showing off her partners' strengths and involved minimal lifting. Brendan could have contrived something which showcased Lisa's ballroom skills and her vivacity, and preserved her dignity instead of leaving it in tatters on the dance floor.

i just thought it was a failed attempt at being like the showdance we'd seen the previous week. and i didn't like that showdance much either to be honest, it was more like acrobatics than dancing i thought.
also they were on the floor too much i thought. it wasn't really about the way lisa danced it, but i just wasn't keen on the choreography.

I know very little about dancing - but I can tell now if something is good or not.

I could tell it was very bad, and I think that when i get a strong good/bad feeling, im usually right.

Totally agree on both counts. Think I might have to read "Lisa's showdance" thread again
