Austin Healey Ten Years Younger?
SCD-Observer
04-01-2009
Sorry, for being really bored today.

I spotted a photo of Austin Healey on the website and did some 'plastic surgery' to his face.

Austin at 30 and 20.

If there are more SCD-related celebs or pros faces lying around somewhere, give me a heads-up. I might 'photoshop' them.

You are awesome, SCD-O!

He looks very fresh-faced and a bit less like he's just been naughty in the second one

I love the colour of his eyes in the 2nd one

Sometimes magazine 'overdid' the image and I am posting an even more 'airbrushed' version of Austin (the far right).

I like the middle one, because it still looks like him.

The 'more perfected one' on the far right has the eyes 'opened up' by 25%, eyebags significantly reduced, the the eye whites and teeth widened (by 50% and 33% respectively), his smile 'tilted up' so that his grin appears more 'happy', his lower lips made fuller, his skin further smoothened and lightened by 25%.

Scary thing, which proves one thing: don't always believe in everything you see in magazines!

Austin airbrushed.

hahah!

The third photo is just a bit 'wrong' looking! He still looks good but it just doesn't look like Austin!

That's the point I was making. When you 'enhance' it beyond a certain point, you lose the essense of who the person is.

Which is the reason why so many perfect 'models' look so soul-less. They may look pretty, sexy etc., but they aren't 'human' for some reasons...

Is it wrong that I prefer the wrinkly Austin?
He has got some bad sun damage to his skin on the forehead and cheeks though. Naughty boy did not wear his SPF30!

I know he had a hair transplant in his mid twenties but he looks good in both!

It wasn't a hair transplant - it was some sort of regrowing treatment, so it's still technically his own hair. Not entirely sure of the mechanics of it, but he's adament it's not a transplant

A la Frank Sinatra?
I never knew but did wonder as his hair looked a little thin on top sometimes.....still, grass doesn't grow on a busy street they say lol.

Not keen on the third pic.....the middle one for me definitely

Don't ever try and photoshop a picture of yourself...

Once I discovered that magic little eraser button, i got to work on a photo of myself:

Remove extra chins
smooth out crows feet
even out skin tone
whiten teeth...

look in mirror...

I actually prefer the first one, it's more "Austin" . But thanks SCD-O, it's really interesting how you can almost erase someone's personality by erasing the "imperfections".

I find it fascinating that the fashion industry/Americans find the wrinkles/freckles/skin damage in someone's face to be an imperfection, whereas I consider it to be character/personality/wit.

I also find it refreshing that we're still more cynical over here about "perfection". I think we still have a tendency to see perfection as bland/less intelligent. It gives me hope!

The slightly retouched picture still looks like Austin, maybe a bit younger...
But the extra retouched one is.... just weird. Wouldn't have guessed it was based on Austin without photos 1 + 2.

Alli-F is right about blanking out a personality (Botox anyone?)
I guess because the big grin in the first picture goes right up to his eyes, so he looks genuinely happy... in the last one the mouth is smiling but the eyes are saying ....nowt!

I prefer the "lived in" look too

I prefer the wrinkly one too - the second pic makes his smile look less natural - it doesn't seem to reach his eyes.

Of course he didn't wear his SPF 30 - he's an outdoors man and they are naturally weatherproof!
