Hi , i am buying a Toppy, what is the differance between the older style Toppy 5800 and the new box type is it just the box?

Hope they have got the bugs out. Wife complains hers fails to record sometimes and it is a bit quirky to use.

We wouldn't buy one now with the greater choice.

The Sys ID? what is the Sys ID?
An internal machine build identifier which should not have been changed from the earlier model as the hardware and functionality are exactly the same but it does bugger up the running of some TAPs which do not recognise it as being one they can run on. Fortunately all is not lost as there is a firmware patch to change the Id back which you can use to restore full compatibility.

Yes they all lock up i have a Humax (i have had 2 of them) and i have a Wafdale Humax are the worst i have had they also miss recordings, My TiVo is the best , but only the cut down version of the TiVo is now available called Sky +, they have taken so much out it is not worth having.
So i will now try the Toppy.
