Do you switch off the plug?

After you have finished on your console and shut it down do you switch the power brick off at the plug too? I do as I;ve heard alot about them over heating etc in the past so when I've finished on my 360 the plug gets turned off as well.

Just wondered if other people do this or just leave the plug on?

I thought about this a few months ago weirdly enough, but couldn't be bothered having to turn off plug sockets and stuff.

What I did instead is bought some surge protector adapters and plugged my expensive stuff (ps3, hdtv, router and dvd) into it. Now I just leave the ps3 on standby.

I leave mine on also for the same reason. It's a shame the power block doesn't have a switch meaning you could turn that off at night.

Lazy lazy people.

At the end of the day, its still eating electricity and omitting some carbon immitions.

To respond, yes, I unplug it always. Mainly to save money. The 360 takes a lot, and I didnt know how much the brick took itself, with the console off, so I unplugged it.

Being one of the first 2005 models, the Bricks and consoles took a lot more electricity, so I got into that routine of unplugging.

Id advise everyone else to do so also. If you cant reach the plug, then get an extension to make it more accessable.

Its time to stop leaving things on standby, and all that. And ave yourself a few quid at it.

Damn, I knew I'd made the wrong choice buying the console with all the games. I should have got the one with the switch on the power brick

Me too, where it's plugged in would be a major PITA to get to every time I want to use the 360.

Power Brick? No need for one of them with a PS3

(and the switch is on the back of the console)

I unplug mine, purely because it's in my bedroom, and the light on the brick keeps me awake, same with the red standby light on the Wii.

You mean like people have commented about the PS3/knocked the 360 on this thread already? On a thread in the XBOX forums?

i have 2 ps3s and a 360. i think they are both great. i usually find the people who knock the ps3 are too mean to buy one

i have to say, xbox live is impressive but i think the ps3 is a more polished and slicker system

swings and roundabouts they say

ok then, they moan about the price

The only thing that remains plugged in in my room when not in use is the tv and sky hd box, all others (xbox/wii/pc/phone charger/xbox remote battery chargers) are all unplugged.

Why has PS3 been mentioned in this thread? It has nothing to do with PS3
