Yes, I did actually know that.
What I said remains true though. Doctor Who made her famous. It is by a long chalk her most notable acting role and, as you say, she did eventually give up on acting. So I find it odd that she seems to have so little regard for the show that made her famous, yet still be prepared to cash in on it.

That is not all and you know it. I have listened to Warriors several times and that is what I am basing my comments on. It's a funny commentary at times but they made numerous comparison between Old Who and New Who, not just regarding budget as you suggest, but regarding JNT's deficiencies as a producer because he wasn't a writer etc etc and their feelings about JNT were pretty clear. Janet admitted that she was quite fond of him as a person and Peter said he was good at publicity, but the rest of it was critical. I certainly don't think JNT was Who's best producer, but I actually felt a bit sorry for the bloke, especially considering he is no longer around to defend himself. I think it's interesting they didn't say this stuff while he was still alive. Maybe they didn't want to hurt his feelings. In a way that's thoughtful of them, I suppose, but it also leaves a bit of bad taste for me that they've waited till he's gone before they say what they think.

There's no need to be silly. It sounds to me like if anyone's spinning things it's you.

I think you need to listen to the Warriors DVD again. They spent most of their time talking about the new series instead of the one they were watching.
Of course, it didn't help they were reviewing Warriors of the Deep, which is widely acknowledged as one of the biggest cock-ups in the history of the series, and this resulted in a particularly scathing commentary. But even on other DVDs, as others have pointed out, Peter and Janet spend most of their time pulling the show apart. Sometimes this is funny, but I would just like to hear different insights on future DVDs. I know I won't be getting them though, which I just think is a bit of a shame.
I've listened to commentaries by Frazer Hines, Wendy Padbury, Barry Letts, Terrance Dicks, Philip Hinchcliffe, Elisabeth Sladen, Louise Jameson etc etc. All have recalled the various trials and tribulations of making the shows, and the failing of the programme, but I also sense there's some affection for the show too. I just don't get that with Peter and Janet. Positive statements are few and far between.
Occasionally they do make comments that are genuinely interesting, they just get bogged down in negativity for me. Janet was quite right to point out that the BBC was very snobbish in those days and the series suffered as a result. Their comments about directors not putting in the effort were also probably true. A lot of viewers got this impression, so it's telling that the actors themselves felt it too while they were making the show.

You think I'm picking out the bits that suit me. That's the opinion that suits you, of course. I have quite clearly stated that I acknowledge Peter and Janet occasionally have interesting comments to make, but I have come to find their commentaries somewhat predictable now. I quite like some Davison shows, including Enlightenment and The Awakening, but I'm not especially looking forward to the commentaries because I expect they'll be more of the same from Jan and Pete. I would just like to hear different insights in future. I agree with other posters that the Davison-Fielding-Waterhouse-Sutton commentaries are the least interesting because Peter and Janet completely dominate. Of course, this will not be the line-up for Enlightenment and The Awakening, so it may not be so bad if they put other people on (so long as it's not just Peter and Janet on their own).
