Samsung LE40M87BDX -- Bad Picture with Virgin Cable TV -- Scart!
Hi,
I recently got a LE40M87BDX from a friend, and have been having a hard time getting a good picture with my Virgin box. I have connected the TV to the box using a SCART cable (the extremely cheap one that came with the Virgin box), and was wondering that that is the problem ? The resolution looks really bad when watching TV. I am thinking about upgrading to the V+ box so I can connect via HDMI, but am not 100% sure. Would HDMI make a big difference, or is it more to do with the settings/quality of the cables? Thanks so much for any suggestions. Josh. |

I dont know too much about V boxes but, as a general rule, ensure you are connected to the 'TV' scart on the V box and that this socket is set to output an RGB signal - you can check this in the settings menu somewhere, I'm sure.
Similarly, check that, at the TV end, you have the scart plugged into AV1 as this is usually the socket that can support an RGB signal. If you get it set up right you should see something like 'AV1/RGB' in the top corner of the screen when you select AV1 - the picture should be really good. Scorp |

Are you getting wavey lines or such like, if so then it's the tv itself, as scart interferance has been reported on this model since its launch..!

Hi,
Just for information - I have the 37" M87 and have what I consider an excelent picture via hdmi from my Sky HD box. I have no experience of connecting to a Virgin box but would imagine the V+ via hdmi would improve the picture quality. |
