I would have thought you could find a USB A male to male lead on Ebay? The only thing is I'm not sure the idea would work that well.
The problem I can forsee is how you would control the playback. I'm fairly sure that the home cinema system needs to be responsible for track selection and decoding - in effect it has to be a media player. You haven't given model details of the home cinema system (which would have been useful) so it's difficult to say what might be possible. Alternatives - your iPod is a pretty good media server/player so you could stick with that. - you could invest in an external sound card from your PC to give you a digital output (or at the least a decent quality stereo output) and connect that direct to the home cinema kit. Have a look at the Sound Blaster USB card. Here are some alternatives |

There are PC cases on sale that have iPod docks built in.
This Thermaltake Black Mozart case [click] for instance. They cost about £110 or so from various sources. Of course, it means transferring your PCs contents into the new case - but hey, it looks great, and if I had an iPod and the money, I'd get something like this. It won't help you with your laptop issue, though. It's just another idea for you to consider. |
