I've narrowed my next phone to these two.

Never owned a Samsung before, but they look really smart.

I'm currently getting rid of my Xperia x1 and have noticed the Omnia runs the same OS - but it also has Samsung looks/menus thrown in which looks better and 'faster' in my opinion.

The only Symbian phone I have owned was a N73 so not sure what's new and what you can do on the i8510.

Main features I want is WiFi, good web browsing and easy navigation with being able to customize the looks if possible - themes, ringtones, sms tones etc.

Quite important that I can view BBC iPlayer and youtube as well as other flash videos - or at least able to download videos from sites to the phone.

I've watched many youtube videos on both these phones and I like features from both - Omnia's touchscreen for web browsing and having live messenger, rss applications and good email (like the X1) handling ie, view full html emails.
Then I like the i8510's crisp screen, easy navigation, camera and large memory.

Could someone with any of these phones comment on some of the features I mentioned if they are on the phone and any good?

Currently have my Xperia on ebay and have about 2 days to decide - if it sells!

One more important thing is - which would have Samsung's main support? Are there frequent firmware updates and software for both?

Thank you very much in advance!

It's ultimately a question of whether you would want a windows mobile phone (omnia) or a symbian s60 phone (innov8).

That element is what will make the biggest difference on your "experience" with each phone. Any phone with recent versions of either operating system will suffice for review purposes.

Never mind - I've just pre-ordered the red Nokia 5800 'Tube'

Can't believe I'd never seen or heard of this phone before, and can't wait to get my hands on it

What bit of it isn't "well spec'd", I can only think of the camera being lesser.

He did say "pre-ordered".

Ordered from the Nokia site, stock due in February 23rd.

Of the many videos I've seen of this phone, I love it already!

I can't believe people are paying £400+ for these when they are only £245 officially. I'll wait a month

sorry, was skim-reading before. Interesting that you chose that phone after your previous dilemma.

Have you looked at the Nokia 8500 as well before you made your choice?

Nokia 8500? Can't say I did no.

I wanted a phone to browse the internet and I like touch screen phones. Camera doesn't bother me, but wanted an easy and customizable UI. This phone has everything I need
